Guest guest
Namaste all family: Since Sunday is Shivaratri, let us remember the reasons we meditate and perform puja to Shiva, the Consciousness of Infinite Goodness. The following are quotes taken from the book Maa and Swami wrote called: BEFORE BECOMING THIS. Page 286 " By worshiping Shiva we cultivate the qualities of infinite consciousness, detachment, and freedom from bondage to the material world. Shiva is the Lord who causes transformation. He makes changes happen. Before we can construct a new edifice, we must excavate and clear the land. Shiva is the Lord of Excavation. He makes changes happen by clearing the old and making way for the new. Shiva takes away all fear. The transitory nature of existence makes us feel insecure. We want things to stay the way they are. Until we accept the will of Shiva, there will be fear. As long as we identify with the changes that are occurring, we create our own pain by our attachment to the way we think things should be. Through Shiva we cultivate the attitude of perceiving intrinsic reality, not extrinsic appearance. We identity with that which does not change. We become the witnesses to the changes of nature. Remembering the eternal reality, we free ourselves from pain and fear. We see them as passing states of mind and accept the will of God. Shiva is also the strength of willpower to define and obtain our goals. Nothing deflects Shiva from his path. Shiva is especially good for woman and, in particular, married women. If they can see Shiva in a stone or a picture, they can more easily find Shiva in their spouse. With their loving devotion they can make their spouse become more like Shiva. Woman worshiping Shiva become more self sufficient, clearer, and more defined in their goals, much more resourceful, and less dependent. Men worshiping Shiva would become a yogi, more independent, and would decrease the desires and the needs of the body. His strength would increase as well as endurance, patience, and sadhana. " Dear family, realize that the class on Shiva puja Swami is teaching is called the Advanced Puja. There is a Beginners's Shiva puja text available at the Mandir, as well as a CD which has all the mantras chanted, making it easier to learn. Anyone who needs help learning, please contact the club and post questions, or e mail me off line and I will be happy to assist. Guest guest
Hope everyone had a blessed Mahashivaratri. I managed to check into the website several times. I was not able to hear much, the audio was very low, but I was happy to be able to participate in any small way with the rituals there at Napa. Over the weekend I chanted the Rudrastadyaiyi and did two Shiva Pujas, one with all the offerings on Sunday night. I feel blessed by Mahadeva and Divine Mother. Some severe physical complaints that I have been having over the past few days have begun to abate and I am thankful to Shiva/Shakti and to all who are praying with/for me. May the Light of Shiva bless us all. Om Jai Ma Kali! Om Namah Shivaya!
