Guest guest
In response to Linda, Ambika, and All: Tonight after the 6:30PM arati in the temple ( some of you may have seen/heard on the WebCam), Shree Maa and Swamiji were sharing some inspiration that came from Shree Maa's current reading of the Ramayan. Maa was describing that in one part, it is comparing the effects upon an individual who keeps the holy company of sadhus with the power that can turn an ordinary crane into a beautiful swan. I was thinking that as members of the greater Devi Mandir family, and as current students of Maa and Swami Satyananda, we have so many opportunities every day to engage with and experience the example and transformative power of true sadhus (whether it is in person, via the webcam satsanghs, during on-line classes or chat groups, or studying their books). Do you know that in her earlier years of traveling alone and doing tapasya, Shree Maa was known throughout the Himalayas and other parts of India as simply "Sadikha Ma". I believe the sadhu/or sadikha is seeking to know the God-within. And so when I am assisting Maa over the last couple of days as she is preparing the murthis (on the Devi Mandir altar) for Navaratri, I watch how carefully and attentively she is touching and interacting with each one, calling them by name, talking intimately with them, making eye-to-eye contact. In one moment when Maa is standing face-to-face with the Vishnu (murthi), it is as if there is an exclusive unseen vortex of loving energy between them. It is silent and peaceful. It is as if they are each appreciating the beauty in the other. And if you tuned-in to the 6:30PM temple arati two times this week, you saw how gracefully and joyfully Shree Maa dances with all of the deities, with respect, and as simply as if she were dancing with you or me. She rings the bell up high with her left hand while she offers each of the ten items, moving slowly around the temple to the rhythm and beat of the drum stopping briefly at each of the altars. Did you notice how last night she even offerred the items to all of her children around the world tuned-in on the webcam? " Our lives nowadays are always busy, but when we make the time to keep "regular" company and satsangh with the sadhus, saints, and other holy beings, their joyful energy, waves of consciousness, and deep peace infect us all . I hope you all feel welcome to join us as often as you wish, and in anyway that you can, and especially during this upcoming Navaratri season.Jai Chandi Ma!Kamala
Guest guest
Namaste Kamalaji, Thank You for sharing your close experiences with Maa! It is indeed a unique opportunity to be part of the Devi Mandir family!! And how right you are about the effects of keeping the holy company of sadhus. We are lucky that the webcam is available for joining in on prayers and the question answer session with Swamiji- tho' I'm not always lucky with the download. BUT just remembering them with love - long distance, is so wonderful! Sometimes I can feel their actual presence here in Tehran, as I sit in my kitchen, or spend a still moment. Maa and Swamiji reach out and touch my heart where ever I am. Yesterday was the Persian Nowruz. WE have been busy for the last couple of weeks cleaning our house -scrubbing it to a sparkle, turning out all our shelves and cupboards. When I was arranging the 'Haft sin' with sprouted dals, mirror, candle, and ....I could feel them watching and encouraging me! I love them!!!! Thank You Maa and Swamiji!
