Namaste Everybody!

A couple of weeks ago Shree Maa asked someone in the Temple " How are you? "

The person said, " body is fine. Mind is not "

Shree Maa said, " Why? "

Person said, " Well...you know mind just goes here and there. "

All of us bystanders totally understood what he was saying :) We had a lot of

practice and daily experience with wandering-to-and-fro and other craziness. But

Maa looked really puzzled! :)

She said, " Why don't you do mantra "

He answered, " Oh...i don't remember them. " (ok, this person is

very,very,very....devoted to Divine Mother and chants Chandi close to everyday)

Maa said, " What is there to remember? " Just say " Om Namah Sivaya " " Jai

maa " ....Just say and mind will be ok. "

Person said, " Ok, i'll try to say. When i remember. "

Shree Maa, " Well, remember - just one day say all the time " Om Namah Sivaya " and

you will remember. "

It sounded like such an easy and delightful prescription when Shree Maa said it

-- simple, easy way to God's Eternal Feet - Om Namah Sivaya!

.......story to be contd. :)

Jai Maa! :)

Namaste all family: Sister Ramya, that story could have been about me. I have

seen a change in my mind since Maa began talking about focusing on mantra. For

example, when I awake, but eyes are still closed, and I am not ready to get out

of bed, mind will be wandering to and fro. Then I will have the idea to think

Om Namah Sivaya. Very quickly mind settles down and I drift into meditation.

Very very sweet.

This did not happen prior to Maa's suggestions. I really feel this is an example

of how she tunes into us once we decide to follow her advice.

Thanks so much for giving us her teachings, so clearly, and so fun.

Jai Ma Jai Swami

Namaste Everybody!!!

Thanks for your joyful and inspiring participation in making our lives - mantra

lives! :) It is sooo fun to see and hear of all the different mantras and ways

to remember - thank you! thank you! thank you!

Ok - here is a little continuation of the story about Maa's teaching us to do

mantras.

A few days went by after Maa spoke about remembering mantra during the day to

still our minds' craziness!

It was Amawasya (New Moon) day and Shree Maa did Her puja to Mother Kali at Her

altar - She has a beautiful Kalighat Kali - She is soooo beautiful...and Maa

offered Her many, many rudraksha malas.

A visitor to the Temple was talking to Swamiji after evening arati - Maa went to

him and put a mala around his neck and said " From Mother Kali. Chant. "

Then She quickly walked to the other side of the hawan kund. Our friend (from

part 1 of story) was standing there and She said " Now you can remember to chant.

Whenever you see this mala. Take it out and start chanting. " She put a mala

around his neck.

He said, " What mantra? "

Maa said, " Anything. Om Namah Sivaya. Jai Maa. "

ok, i was standing there evesdropping! :) And She looked at me and said in a

strict voice, " You too. " She handed me a mala and walked away!

i was happy to get a mala and put it around my neck :) A few minutes later, i

was walking behind Maa outside the Temple and Maa was saying something and i was

just listening.

Our friend was standing near by, " Hey what are you doing? Why is your mala not

in your hand? " He said to me.

I smiled politely and tried to walk faster. :)

Maa asked me " What is he saying? "

I said, " Maa he is holding the mala you gave him in his hand and saying mantra.

He wants to know why i am not doing the same. "

Maa said, " Yes, why not? "

There was a pause in the conversation.

Then Maa said " Do. "

So everybody, please do -- with mala or with fingers or no counting. One name or

many names or one mantra or many mantras. Loudly or with just your lips or in

your mind or writing. Anyway - everyway.

Just Do It :)

with love and prayers,

ramya :)

thank you so much. I am chanting 5 malas of my guru given mantra daily if not more. I also write the mantra for an hour or so on paper at work when I have a break. This all helps me to be in touch. I chant the mantra in the car, shower, cooking , dishes ect.... Thank you shree maa and everyone for helping me.

Namaste all,

thank you very much for all the inspiring posts about mantras and thank you,

Ramya Maa, for the story about Maa's teaching! It has certainly inspired me to

do my best to chant more. The Peace mantra is the one I turn to most. But I have

also found another treasure: the mantras from the Tantric Praise of the Goddess

have proven themselves to be very practical tools in daily life. In all kinds of

circumstances, experiencing hunger, confusion, satisfaction, engergy etc., these

mantras help me to recognize Divine Mother in all that and call forth Her

qualities.

Last night when sleep would not come, I recited the mantra praising Mother as

Sleep residing in all existence and I was off in minutes. It is fun to discover

all kinds of ways in which Mother helps us to remember Her!

Jai Maa!
