Guest guest
Question from Ambi/Nanda:I am curious about the dreadlocks on the visiting Sadhu. Is there any tradition behind them - wondering if they are not heavy to carry around all day.Swamiji's response:There is a rich tradition behind those dreadlocks and they are extremely heavy. As a personal aside, the dreadlocks are coarse and prickly and extremely unmanageable.Shiva is said to be of matted hair, wearing jata - dreadlocks, from which Ganga flowed down to the earth. To maintain such a hairstyle is a sadhana in itself. Every time he stands or sits, the hair falls to one side or the other (it's at least 3 yards long, probably more), and then it comes unraveled and he drapes it over his arm until he must tie it again. But this sadhu is not only famous for his hair. He is so full of love and humility, and people love him for the generosity of his spirit. That is why it is such a joy to host him in the Devi Mandir. Jai Maa! Guest guest
Dear Nanda and all privileged Devi Mandir family, I have been reading about the auspicious gathering in the devi mandir and the related festivities in various mails from you all and am soooo eager to know more and if possible see pictures of the events. I missed out the Sunderkand and the Durga Path that followed sunday morning because the web cam would not download. Can anyone post pictures of the events??????? I am always inspired and enriched by Swamiji's replies!!!! He is a veritabel ocean of knowledge, love and spirituality. Thanks in advance and Lots of Love to all Jai Maa!
