Guest guest
Namaste Dear Sister Ambika: when too much and too little are pulling me, and my head is spinning, and all I want to do is get up from my asan and watch TV, I try to remember Swami's key advice: it is our privilege to worship. Not a another task on our " to do " list. I also find that if I do some hatha yoga prior to my chanting, etc., it is much easier to settle into the rhythm of worship. But the most valuable technique for me is pranayama with the verses or japa. As in our group Chandi, I chant 2 verses to the breath. If doing japa, I chant the mantra 1 time while inhaling, hold for 4 reps, then exhale- 2 reps of the mantra, with eyes closed. Once I get into that flow and am breathing in and out deeply, the mental dross begins to break up, and too much and too little get into balance. If all else fails, I pray to Maa to give me the strength to complete my sankalpa. But you know what the bottom line is? Everytime I complete my worship, I feel better. Doesn't matter what I feel while doing it, {sometimes great, sometimes not great}, I always feel better when it is complete.
