Namaste!

I am currently studying the Cosmic Puja book by Swamiji. I wish to share my

learning on the club. So here goes.

Srimanmahaganadhipataye namah

We bow down to the Respected Great Lord of Wisdom or Lord of the Multitudes

Sriman is the respected one

Maha is great

Ganas are a flock, troop, multitude, number, tribe, series, class, body of

followers or attendants.(Source: Monier Williams)

Pathi is Father or Lord. Pathaye is the dative case for pati (i.e., to

srimanmahaganadhipati).

Namah is the noun, " salutations. "

Sri Ganesha is the first to be worshiped in any Puja. He obtained this boon from

Lord Siva. He stood at the door to protect his Mother Goddess Parvati and so He

is at every door. We pray to Him for wisdom, before beginning any new venture

and when passing through any door, and befor commencing travel. Especially

before commencing new study or marriage.

Worship of Sri Ganapathi is contained in the book, Ganesh Puja that you can get

here:

Frequently answered questions about Lord Ganesh are contained here.
