Guest guest
Sachi Purandarabhyam Namaha We bow to Sachi and Purandara, Indra and his wife, who preside over all that is divine. Each manvantara has an Indra, who is the Chief of the Devas. There are 14 manvantaras in a kalpa or a day of Brahma. They and their respective Indras are as follows (source Agni Purana): 1: Shatakratu 2: Vipashchita 3: Sushanti 4: Shikhi 5: Vitatha 6: Manojava 7: Purandara 8: Vali 9: Adbhuta 10: Shanti 11: Gana 12: Ritadhama 13: Divaspati 14: Shuchi We are currently in the seventh manvantara and the Indra is Purandara. Puram is city and dara is to shatter or destroy. Sachi means the rendering of help, assistance. She helps. Indra is the God of war, of thunder, rain. In Devi Mandir we pray to Him for rain with the mantra " Om Lam Indraaya Svaaha " Love srini
