Guest guest
Question from Kumari:I have abstained from doing physical ritual (only doing japa, meditation and reciting) during the three days of the dark moon in the past. I regard this as the Goddess' rest time during Her period. This is a way of showing Her respect. Is there any validity in this practice?Swamiji's response:Yes, In Kamakhya Temple they celebrate the festival of Ambuvaci, where they observe three days rest time during Her period. They do not make puja, move fire, pick fruits or flowers, dig in the earth, during this time. No pujas or yajnas are performed. This is a similar practice although your observance occurs monthly and they do it annually.
Guest guest
Thank you Swamiji, for your reply. If I understand correctly in the Kamakhya observance it is generally a period of time of respect for the earth as the Goddess as well. A time to let Her take Her rest. I would like to think on this and see what other meaningful activities I can come up with to deepen this practice. Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji!
