Guest guest
Namaste, Today is the beginning of the Bhadrapad month. Shree Maa asked that all the members of our family be reminded of this. She suggested that everyday in this month you can chant the thousand names of Lakshmi or you can chant the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam according to your capacity. Lakshya means goal. Lakshmi helps define our goals. Swamiji says our goals are our wealth. What we value is our wealth. In that sense Goddess Lakshmi is the Goddess of Wealth. Her bija mantra is srim. Sh is shanti. R is heart. I is heart. M is perfection. Shrim is the perfect peace in the mind and heart. That is the highest wealth. The audio of Maa chanting Mahalakshmi Ashtakam is here: http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal/lakshmi_audio If you like you can purchase the Lakshmi Sahasranam from our online book store. Guest guest
Namaste Srini, Thank you for posting this information. Thank You Beloved Shree Maa for, once again, offering us a timely sadhana. And thank You Swamiji, for the pure understanding of Lakshmi's wealth -- it is so often solely associated with monetary wealth. I am listening to Maa's recording of the Maha Lakshmi Ashtakam right now, and I have a question. She is chanting this quite slowly (and it is absolutely exquisite, mesmerizing, and transporting, I might add!). When we chant at the fire, or as a group at the Devi Mandir, we chant very quickly. Is there a reason for the tempo discrepancy? Are the slow chanting recordings for our benefit, so we can learn the correct pronunciation? Or is it just another way to do this? I am wondering, if we chant slowly, is it giving our ego the chance to wallow, so to speak, in the beauty of the music and less in the expression of the mantra? (I know that sounds contradictory, but I'm clearly confused -- ha, that's a funny expression.) Also, if we chant slowly, then the pranayama practice is no longer doable. Is there a time when chanting quickly or slowly is more appropriate? Is it simply a matter of personal preference? Srini, do you know Maa and Swamiji's thoughts on this? Thank you, as always, for keeping us connected with our Beloved Gurus.
