Guest guest
Namaste Everybody, Hope you are all feeling peaceful in the kind gaze of Mother Lakshmi. Shree Maa keeps reminding us that it is Bhadrapad month - the month of Lakshmi. Everyday Mother is doing special puja to Lakshmi and She chants 1000 names of Lakshmi with us in the Homa in the evening. Ok - here is a quiz question about Lakshmi -- What is the relationship between MahaLakshmi and Lakshmi? Are they different names for same Goddess? Yes or No - please explain how you arrived at your answer and chant " Om Shrim Lakshmyai Namaha " 10 times before posting Jai Maa Lakshmi! Guest guest
Dear Beloved Family, The scriptures say that there are an almost infinite number of Brahmaas or local creator Gods. Our local creator God, our Brahmaa, has a consort who is called, among other things, Lakshmi. But, the greater Universe which contains all the inumerable Brahmaas and their creations, also has a consort. To distinguish the two, " MahaLakshmi " would designate the Goddess of the greater Universe, whereas " Lakshmi " would refer to our local Universe ruled by our local Brahmaa. Jai Maa Lakshmi! Guest guest
Namaste Ramya, in my understanding, MahaLakshmi is the Supreme Giver, the Power of Pure Love that was, is and will be, the Supreme Mother who sustains all and accepts all as Her own. All that is, is Her gift and Her gift is not separate from Her. Lakshmi, I think, is Her manifestation in our lives, and She comes the moment we realize that all our experiences, all we have and perceive, are Her gift. The moment we see the riches She gives us freely, we are grateful for everything She sends us and ready to share, Lakshmi is there and we are at peace. The moment we think we lack something,we need something else or we try to cling to what we have, she vanishes from sight and trouble begins. I hope I am making sense here, I am trying to put into words the intuition that gratitude and appreciation are the key (or one of the keys) to understanding (Maha)Lakshmi. I think that these are the qualities She inspires in us in order to draw us into Her heart. to that Goddess, whose thousand arms cover all the directions and whose Light illuminates the three worlds, I bow, I bow. Thank you, Maa! with love, Henny , " n_ramya108 " <n_ramya108 wrote: > > Namaste Everybody, > > Hope you are all feeling peaceful in the kind gaze of Mother Lakshmi. > > Shree Maa keeps reminding us that it is Bhadrapad month - the month of Lakshmi. Guest guest
Namaste Dear Ones, There is but one Goddess Lakshmi but there are two representations of the Goddess - Bhudevi, the representation and totality of the material world and Sridev, the Spiritual world or energy called the Param Prakritii. Goddess Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth of our goals, our values, our aspirations. MahaLakshmi is the Goddess of the Middle Episode of the Chandi who was formed by the pure love and devotion of of the Gods, Shakti was manifested to destroy the ego. Goddess Laskhmi blesses Her seekers with true wealth, the wealth of peace of mind and heart so that we can offer our highest respect in our worship, that of attention. Thank you for the question Ramya. Guest guest
another take if you will, When looking away from the light one sees shadows, yet there would be no shadows without the light - thus one can not destroy per-se the shadows (or duality) in the three worlds although one can return to the inside or inner power (so to speak) of the three worlds where duality is not, for that is Her - the great Ocean of Oneness. Guest guest
I suppose I have to answer a question with a question... is there anything at all but MAA?;)But to refer to the Chandi, Mahalaksmi is the cosmic force, with ten arms, and she is the slayer of Mahisasura, Chandi Herself. Laksmi as a personal deity takes slightly different form, less ferocious and more gentle, wielding no weapons but granting boons. However, Laksmi is of Mahalaksmi, and Mahalaksmi is of Laksmi. MAA is one. jai kamesvari kali maa-kulasundari , " n_ramya108 " <n_ramya108 wrote: > > Namaste Everybody, > > Hope you are all feeling peaceful in the kind gaze of Mother Lakshmi. > > Shree Maa keeps reminding us that it is Bhadrapad month - the month of Lakshmi. Guest guest
What is the relationship between MahaLakshmi and Lakshmi? The Great Goddess of the Chandi that destroy of Mahishasura. Shakti!Lakshmi is as we all know the Goddess of Wealth in more was than one. Thus all the names. Are they different names for same Goddess? Where there may be differences in word description it does not change the fact that She is all that is.Each name, what ever it may be, is only a different aspect of the Mother. Just as we are.It has been good reading the meaning of each name.Seeing the different aspects of the self come alive.Mother is so good to show us She is ALL that is and more. And She is all part of all of us.Reading this each evening has clearly shown that She is everything. When doing japa of Her name as a walking meditation it has also been helpful.Looking at each thing and seeing Her looking back is such a joy.Jai Jai Maa --- On Tue, 8/25/09, n_ramya108 <n_ramya108 wrote:n_ramya108 <n_ramya108[www.ShreeMaa.org] Lakshmi Quiz - part 1 Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 10:31 AM Namaste Everybody, Hope you are all feeling peaceful in the kind gaze of Mother Lakshmi. Guest guest
That is such a great insight. That is exactly when I find myself in trouble, when I think I need something so much or am clinging to what I have, that is when I am disturbed in mind. When I am happy and grateful for what I have, everything is blissful. I know all that I need is Divine Mother! Thank you Ramya for posting this quiz, the answers are all amazing! Mahalakshmi with thousand arms represents the light of infinite Consciousness, which is everywhere. Mahakali is Her other half, the Darkness that makes Light perceivable, while Mahasaraswati gives the knowledge to create the world and also to return to the source of infinite consciousness. In order to explain the Goddess, the Chandi speaks of Kali and Saraswati issuing forth from Lakshmi, but how can there be a beginning to this story? They exist and that is enough for me. They are real and they respond to the devotee. Lakshmi with eighteen arms took on the form of Durga to battle with and kill Mahisasura (the Great Ego). She backs us up in our spiritual battle. Lakshmi with four arms and lotuses is our gentle Mother who originated in She Who is Rays of Light (MahaGauri). In truth they are all one Goddess in multifarious forms. There are ninty million forms of the Goddess, I interpret this to mean that each one of sees Her a slightly different way. She has endless ways of interacting with us. Jai Maa! Jai Maa!
