Guest guest
Hello everyone: Yesterday, I received a suggestion that perhaps I could ask Swamiji to name the studio, and that the studio would then have his blessings. Would Swamiji be willing to do this? My only wish was that the name be fairly short and easy to pronounce for those who are new to yoga, and have no knowledge of Sanskrit. I was thinking to go with " yoga sharanam " because this puts the word " yoga " in the name, so people will know it is a yoga studio, and also gives the idea of taking refuge in the practices of yoga (which, of course, include meditation and mantra). But some people have said that " yoga sharanam " is not really correct grammatically, and that it should be " yogam sharanam. " Could someone with a knowledge of Sanskrit advise on this? I really wish that I could call it " devi sharanam, " but am afraid that this may offend students who have different religious/spiritual beliefs. Thanks to everyone who helped out with this, and maybe Swamiji will agree to step in and give a name. Guest guest
I would say not to be afraid to put Devi in your name. The divine feminine is so needed at this time. Many will feel happy to feel the mother's warmth at this time and you could get a beautiful murthy to put in your studio. It would be lovely and would make people feel safe and warm. I do not think it is too religious and those who are supposed to come to you will come to you. Go with what you feel and love and all her bounty will be with you. Guest guest
How about Atman Sharanam to convey refuge for the soul. This is a fairly universal concept religiously and shouldn't offend (at least one wouldn't think). Then below could be something in English like . . . Idk. My English is sorta rusty y'all. Btw, I'm on my wife's little iPod thingy and can't figure out how to delete the preceeding message content; sorry. , " rosaroja24 " <rosaroja24 wrote: > > Hello every > Yesterday, I received a suggestion that perhaps I could ask Swamiji to name the studio, and that the studio would then have his blessings.
