Guest guest
Dear Divine Members, In continuation series of Datta Yoga Rahashyam, now, we are giving the second part of Yoga saadhana rahashyam. Pls read this secret information. This information is very powerful in the Datta sampradaya, as these are the direct words of Lord Dattatreya and not of any person of the society. Oh Sankriti! The ten Niyams are: austerity (Tapa), fasting, contentment, faith in God, charity, worship of God, listening to spiritual discourse, modesty, recitation (Japa), and intellect. “I will describe them to you serially.According to wise people, deliberating on the nature of spirit, bondage and liberation is austerity.Fasting is for purification of body through performing holy rituals on special days prescribed in the Vedas. Contentment is the feeling of happiness in heart for whatever is gained through divine blessings. It is also the feeling of happiness that comes through detachment from the pleasures that can be gained in all the worlds of gods such as Brahmaa.Faith in God is confidence in righteousness described in the Vedas and other holy scriptures.Charity is the legally acquired money or property given with faithful reverence to people of wisdom or good conduct that are suffering from some calamity or dangerous conditions. To free the heart from infatuation, to free the words from untruthful speech and to free the actions from violence is the worship of God.The spirit is true, imperishable, full of wisdom, stable and blissful. To listen continuously this fact so as to apply it in the daily life, is listening to spiritual discourse. The natural hesitation in doing actions considered by the scriptures to be ill advised for worldly path, is called modesty.Full faithful reverence in the Vedic teachings is the act of intellect.Reciting or repeating the Vedic mantras, after getting permission from the Gurus and in conformity with the path prescribed in the Vedas, is Japa. In my view, Japa is to keep the mind attached to the teachings of Vedas, Puranas, history and other holy scriptures. There are two types of Japas- recited and mental. Recited Japas are of two types, loudly recited and whispered. Similarly, mental Japas are also of two types in accordance with the difference of thinking and concentration. Whispered Japa is thousand times better than loud Japa. Same way, mental Japa is thousand times better than the whispered Japa. The loudly recited Japa can give beneficial fruits to all those who participate in it but it becomes ineffective if it is listened by the lowly or undeserving people”.
