Dear Harishankar Avargale, Sorry that I could not reply to your three earlier emails on Trishathi.I was extremely busy this week. You may do it if you have initiation into Panchadasi. My gurunathar Swami Rajagopalar

of Nanganallur temple says, one can do Trishathi only if the minimal requirement of Panchadasi initiation is fulfilled, else He says "Chandi will follow". Then the situation becomes difficult for even for minor lapses, the devotee will be punished. Not only this but also Yogini Shapam will also accrue, which I have discussed as to why this shapam accrues scientifically vis-a-vis the Chakra kernels later in this posting. Lalitha Sahasranama is Vashinyaadi Devataa Proktham and is essential for Srividya Upasakas(or Upasakis in the Lopamudrachara) to be read daily. Trishathi, however, is something in addition to Sahasranama. Some view that Trishathi is more powerful than Sahasranama(based upon what is

stated in Phalashruthi and other texts). This view is because it is an expansion of the Panchadasi mantra itself. Trishathi means 300 in sanskrit and this Lalitha Trishathi stotra is found in Brahmanda Purana in Lalithopaakhyaanam. Though the purana is Vyasa-rachitham, this stotra has been given by Lord Shiva and Parvathy(both). Thus, some Srividya Adepts also give to their disciples, a prescribed regimen to chant this stotra when their marital life is in trouble with a particular vareity of flowers. "tad viddhi

pranipatenapariprasnena sevayaupadeksyanti te jnanamjnaninas tattva-darsinah"--(Shloka 34--4 of Bhagavdgeetha.) "To understand transcendental knowledge, you must approach a self-realized soul, accept him as your spiritual master, and take initiation from him. Inquire submissively and render service unto him. Self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you, for they have seen the truth." we must have these three qualifications: pranipat, pariprasna, and seva. Pranipat means we must surrender to this knowledge, for it is not an ordinary class of knowledge, which as a subject we can make our object; it is supersubjective. We may be the subjects in this mundane world, but we will have to become objects to be handled by the superknowledge of that plane. Pranipat means that one approaches a spiritual master, saying, "I am finished with the experience of this external world; I have no charrn for anything in this plane, where I have already traveled. Now I am offering myself exclusively at your altar. I want to have your grace." In this mood we should approach that higher knowledge. Pariprasna means honest, sincere inquiry. We must inquire not with the tendency of discussion or in the mood of argument, but all our efforts should be concentrated in a positive line to understand the truth, without the spirit of doubt and suspicion. With full attention we should try to understand that truth, because it is coming from a higher plane of reality that we have never known. Agasthya Mahamuni embibed the essence of the above questioning attitude given in Geetha and asked his Deshika Sri Hayagreeva to give this Trishathi.(He even says to Sree Hayagreeva that "You are hiding

something from me").Sree Hayagreeva after giving the Sahasranama goes into Samadhi with a smile on His divine countenance and Sree Agasthya Mahamuni catches His holy feet and bows His head down. He remains thus for many years! And then Devi seeing Agasthya's persistence and devotion become spleased and prods Hayagreeva to give the Trishathi Namas. This is a Rahasya Stotra and Sree Hayagreeva Deshika feels happy that through Sree Agasthya He had the good fortune of seeing the Aadi Dampathulu, Sree Kamashwara and Sree Kameshwari themselves giving the sacred secret hymn. The Namas in Trishathi if worshipped onto a Srichakram with Mandara flowers bring about Conjugal bliss leading to not just Ihika sukhas but to Adhyatma sammelana of the bhartha and Bharya. If the archana is done with Bel leaves, one can get rid of sins. With Karaveera, Manjushka or Mallika flowers, one gets moskha. (Rajagopala Swami doing Homam in Nanganallur temple) Our temple in Nanganallur does the Trishathi Homa which removes the sins of devotees even upon witnessing the Homa. Many have experienced miraculous results. Trishathi Rahasya Vishayam: Trishathi means 300. 15 *20 = 300 6 Pindanda Chakras 14 Sreechakravayavams{Bindu(1)+Trikona(1)+Vasukona(1)+Dasaarayugmam(1+1)+Manvasra(1)+Nagadalam(1)Vasudala(1)+Vruthatraya(3)+Dharaneesadatrayam(3)}=14 These 20 when multiplied by 15 Syllables of Panchadasi gives 300 Thus when one does without intiation or proper shraddha or bhakthi or pronunciation then there accrues a Yogini Shaapam(curse of a Yogini incharge of a particular sacred kernel). This is not purely shastra-pramanam but also divine sense. My hesitation to recommend this

Trishathi for your job problem was this.--Whether or not, you had an initiation into Panchadasi atleast and have a Guru guiding you.(In that case my help becomes only supplementary and you should never leave the bolster of your Guru.Even Paradevata Rajarajeshwari come sonly second to your Guru.) The sadhaka gets prurifed in each of the scared kernel in the body and thus the sins are removed from his shareera(all shareeras). The Stotra is not a litugrical verse but a beejapoortiha mantra which should be done in the privacy of your pooja room and hence like all mantras one must get initiation. The beeja vishayas are too many and are given in Aadishanakara Trishathi Bhasyam. Also the Bhaashyam gives out various answers to commonly asked questions. Aadishankara Bhagavadpada has not just given bhashyams for upasthaana Trayam (Brham sutras, Upanishads and Bhagavdgeetha) but also for certain other important stotras like Trishathi. This form of Trishathi vipulam was the best I read. It is "SARVA SAMSHAYA NIVAARINI"(Panaecea for removing all doubts regarding this stotra). There are different vyaakhaanams for this Trishathi and these

have been stated in Shankara Bhashyam as "Visthaarithaam Bahuvidhaam Bahubhihi Kruthaamcha teekaam Vilokyathu Makshmathaam Janaanaam".,....in the Bhashyavathaarika i.e., It is not a lopa(defect) of the words of the trishathi but the "akshamtha"(incapacity) of the devotees in understanding it.He has given a grantha named "Sarvapada Viveka Bhanu" for such devotees who have "pada Akshamatha"(incapacity to read into the various meanings of Sanskrit words) In a way this Bhashya of Adishankar become a sankshiptha(essence) of the Prasthanatraya Bhashya which I mentioned supra. Rahasyanaama Sahasrapaathe Yath phala meeritham tath koti koti Gunitham eka nama japaadh bhaveth ---Trishathi Phalashruthi Shlokam 30 The merit of reading LALITHA SAHASRANAMA a crore times is obtained by a single faith rendering of just one nama of Trishathi. This is stated to emphasise the importanc eof Trishathi. This in no way reduces the "million-suns-bright" glory of Sahasrana nor should this be taken as an excuse by Srividya upasaks who should do Saharsanama japa everyday as this is easier to chant. I will reel out more later, for the present please excuse me as I have lot of pending work to do and a project to finish for my School. Thankyou for giving me this opportunity to remember my Mother in the form of Trishathi. Hreemkaramantra Sarvasvaa

Hreemkaaraparasoukhyadaa!! Shreeram Balijepalli
