Guest guest
It is a bit like Swami Prabhupada. He was open when he came to the USA in 1966. But soon he was surrounded by the greedy and ambitious who excluded the meek and humble and took control of the $$$. Making $$$ became the means and the end. " Krishna " and " Prabhupada " were " selling points. " After Prabhupada's disappearence those greedy and ambitious people took control of his mission and kicked out even Prabhupada's own godbrothers. Now they have become a seperate religion, like Sikhs from Hindus. They are afraid of outsiders or other devotees for fear of reducing their man-power and income. Just like a normal business. It is a simple fact of past and present. But those protecting Lord Chaitanya were doing so for spiritual concern. They were not concerned with money or material power or empire building. Infact those close to Lord Chaitanya were cautious in allowing even men to come near him, cause Lord used to draw their sufferings & take them upon himself, But the lucky ones were benefitted even in far-off places like Varanasi. The crowning Glory of the Kula of Ma Katyayani (the Kula-Mata of Mishra's) was not limited by geographical locations. > > Lord Chaitanya's basic premise for not allowing women within 10 feet (not mts), was a pointer to his monastic disciples. He also refused to meet the King of Puri, Prataprudra, a man, because he was a king. Also, Lord Chaitanya lived in a ground level small bare cell in Puri and NEVER had a balcony. His was extreme case of vairagya. He said a vairagi should not even SEE the " wooden form of a women " . He was not saying bad about women, rather he was talking about the inbred weakness in men. And his advice was for tyagis (only).
