Guest guest
Here's a funny story. My Gurudev, Swami Prabhupada, only composed ONE Sanskrit verse in his entire life: a Vandana (to himself). Since then, Iskcon sings this vandana everyday, and at the same time tell the public and media that Prabhupad's a "Great Sanskrit Scholar" (when, in fact, he has no qualifications in Sanskrit, and did all his translations from Bengali Translations). 19 years ago I proudly showed Prabhupada's self-composed vandana to Prof Dr Satya Vrat Shastri, and he immediately pointed out Sanskrit grammar faults. He told them to me, and said, "Whoever wrote this doesn't know Sanskrit!" I was shocked and told him Prabhupada wrote it. And I asked him if he would correct it. He refused, saying Iskcon people will never accept a correction!" But I always asked him every year.Just this year he finally agreed and made the Vandana faultless and perfect. So I sent it to the Leaders of Iskcon and asked them to upgrade. I told them: if they want the world to think Prabhupada is a "Great Sanskrit Scholar" then we MUST update the Vandana. Because as it is now, any Sanskritist will scoff the idea that Prabhupada is even a small "Sanskrit Scholar." But, Iskcon refused, saying Sanskrit Grammar (itself) is wrong, NOT Gurudev. How silly, in deed! (i.e., If Guru misspells a word, then the Dictionary is wrong!! ha ha!!). The most absurd thing is that Prabhupada, in all his entire life, NEVER once claimed to be a Sanskrit Scholar. It is just a made-up LIE from Iskcon. Vaishnavacharya-Guru doesn't make one a Sanskrit Scholar, and Sanskrit scholar doesn't make one a Vaishnavacharya-Guru. There is no comparison. If Iskcon wants to lie about the Guru (saying he's a "Great Sanskrit Scholar") then they MUST fix the Vandana. - It's "put up", or "shut up!"Anyone interested to see the details?
