He went from Bombay to London at age 17, and within 10 years he became so famous that he could go anywhere, snap his fingers, and 300,000 would immediately assemble to hear him. In short, no Indian in history became so influential in the West as late Farrokh Bulsara from Bombay. When it comes to the Western world of music it was an Indian from Bombay who dwarfed everyone. Strangely he never was known in India as such, and he never once performed there. Like many performers he used a stage-name, and his Indian roots were downplayed for racial-commercial purposes. But no son-of-Bombay ever was as great as Farrokh Bulsara (Freddy Mercury), and selling 300 million Albums to date.
