Guest guest
AATHREYA - Dr. Bala Krishna Murthy Ramaraju MAARKANDEYA MAHARSHI - SHIVA BHAKTHA MAARKANDEYA is a Mruthyunjaya = one who conquered death. Any one who has seen God Of Death (Yama Dharma Raaj) and came back are not heard of; but there were three exceptions. 1.Sathi Saavithri w/o Sathyavaan - She defied Yama when her husband's life was taken away , followed Yama to the portals of Yama Lok(Hades) , tricked Yama into blessing her with a large family and when Yama realised His error,He had no choice but send back Sathi Saavithri with Sathyavaan to fulfill His blessing. 2..Nachiketha , a boy of 5 years who was banished by his father to Yama Lok in a fit of bad temper- elders should watch what they say lest it may come true. So Nachiketha visited YamaLok , but Yama is not ready for the boy as it isnot yet his time. Yama is a just God, impartial , does not want any body before their time and does not spare any body when their time is due. So Yama treated Nachiketha with all due consideration ,took the boy as His Sishya and sent Nachiketha back to his father with gifts and knowledge of life & death and all about after-life happenings etc. 3. MAARKANDEYA who was rescued from Yama by no less than Lord Shiva Himself-Om Mruthyunjaya Shivaaya Namaha Om. VIDHAATHA is the second son of BHRIGU and KHYAATHI; VIDHAATHA married NIYATHI and begat MRUKAND ; MRUKAND's wife is MANASWINI ; they were Blessed by HARI - HARA with a Son MAARKANDEYA who is destined to become a great Vedic Scholar , but with a proviso of Life span of only 16 years. Like all His ancestral Bhaargavs , MAARKANDEYA also is a great Shiva Bhaktha ; So when He came to know that His time is approaching Maarkandeya went to Shiva Temple and started praying OM NAMAHA SIVAAYA NAMAHA OM CHANDRASEKHARA RAKSHAMAAM. Yama sent His Kinkaras who were afraid to enter Shiva Temple, whencefore Yama Himself neared Shiva Temple and threw His Lasso (Yama paasam ) which made Shiva Himself come down from Kailaasam to rescue MAARKANDEYA . Yama gracefully yielded ground and blessed MAARKANDEYA as a Chiranjeevi. OM HARA HARA MAHAADEVA SAMBHO SHANKARA . aathreya
Guest guest
Jai Shiv Maharaj A temple for lord Shiva has been there in a district called Dewas in Madhya Pradesh. The interesting story about is as thus:- Several years ago a devotee belonging outskirt village called Bhilavali ( 2-3 KM from Dewas city) daily walked to Ujjain city from Dewas by road, have darshan of Mahakal maharaj and walk back to Dewas. Daily he used to get up at 4 in the morning and after completing morning bath and rituals, walk towards Ujjain, take lunch only after the having the darshan of Lord Shiva. This continued for several years. Once there were heavy rains and the reroute village called Neemavar was flooded and the devotee could not cross the only link river that lead to Ujjain. On the advice of village head he stayed overnight at that village till the flood receded. He had a dream that night in which lord Shiva ordained him to go back to Bhilavali ( his village ) keep three Villa leaves in any place of his liking and he will manifest there so that he need not visit Ujjain at that old age. He followed the instructions and returned to Dewas. To his surprise there were no rains till he reached back Bhilavali. On returning to Bhilavali he placed three Villa leaves and placed a small stone to prevent it flying away in a remote place over a elevated portion of that village. It looked as though it was a small hilltop. The rain continued uninterrupted the whole night. Next day morning wonder struck villagers saw a small Shiva linga buried in that spot. They could not take out the Linga shaped stone. The devotee with the help of the villagers constructed a small hut over it and worshipped the deity for several years treating it as Mahakal Maharaj. The Shiva linga continued to grow over the years and I have myself witnessed it to have grown from something like one and a half foot to almost two and a half foot now. It has been found to be growing dimensionally too. It is difficult to believe, but one has to visit the sight to enjoy the bliss. It is firmly believed and experienced by many including me who was in that region for over thirty years that when one prayed there or kept the framed photo and worshipped it sincerely their wishes were fulfilled. One thing is for sure, you will realize the true inner happiness and peace in mind when you visit the shrine. One has to go to Bhopal, or Ujjain or Indore and from there take the bus or train to Dewas. From Bhopal the bus journey is 4-5 hours and from Indore or Ujjain it is one hour journey. From the Railway station or bus stand at Dewas take an auto or taxi, ask them to go to Bhilavali and come back. They charge around Rs 50-75/- It is in the Bombay - Gwaliar route. I plan to send brief of such temples in many places in India for the benefit of Shiva devotees. I have also added the photo of Bhilavalli inthe add album list for every one's benefit.
