Om Namah Sivaya

Namaste,

Most ShivaLingas that I have seen are black in colour.

Is there a significance or reason behind this ? Mata

Kaali is also somehow associated with black colour.

Kaali literally means black in Hindi. In Sanskrit, it

probably means that which takes away Kaal or death ??

Comments ??

The Hare Krishna temples have black Lord Krishna

idols. (Krishna probably means black ?)

regards,

Shailendra
