in shiv puran, and also some other books

lord bhairav is born of the brow of lord shiv.

at 1 time the 3 gods had gathered and deciding

who is greater ???

lord shiv took the form of a hugh pillar of light or fire

and this pillar was unending.

to decide who is greater, brahma and vishnu decided whoever

finds the top or bottom of lingam will be greater.

brahma took the form of a swan and flew up to go to the top.

lord vishnu took the form of a boar and went down.

both did so for a long time, but cud not find the top

or bottom.

at that time,a flower pf parijat, was falling from swarglok, and

it was caught by lord brahma, and he asked it where it came

from and it said,it came from swarg, and upon asking said

this pillar extends even above swarg lok.

so brahmaji told it to lie saying that if it shud say that he got

it from the top of the pillar to which the flower agreed.

now brahmaji and lord narayana met and lord brahma showed him

the flower saying that he had got it from the top of the pillar.

at that time lord shiv again transformed into normal form and

becomes angry with brahma and took rudra rup,and from

his eyebrow lord bhairav was created a powerful being, with

long nails and armed with many weapons.

lord rudra told him that 1 of lord brahma's mouth had

commited a sin by lying so it must be cut off.

of lord bhairav went to brahmaji and before he know it cut off

lord bhrama's 1 face out of the 5,and punished him.

but lord bhairav had done a sin huimself by doing brahm hatya.

so a terrifying being by the name of paap came forward - from nowhere

and wanted to eat lord bhairav.

he went to lord shiv to ask forgovness, wgho told him to do

parikrama of mother earth, and where this paap wud be destroyed

wud be his new home.

lord bhairav circumamblulated the earth and when he reached kashi

the paap was destroyed.

so he stayed at kashi and is called kashi ka kotwal.

this in short if history of lord bhairav connection to lord rudra.

lord bhairav is protector of devotee and eliminates all problems.

Dear Shi Chaitanya Prabhu JiAum Namah ShivaayaWhat is this Bhairav Saadhanaa? Is it different from Shiv Saadhanaa? Like Rudraabhishek for Bhairav Ji is different from Rudraabhishek for Shiv - Rudraabhishek is the Abhishek for about 1 and a half to two hours process in a temple. Or this is just to be done at home keeping Bhairav's picture or idol?

Is it Dakshinaachaar worship? and anybody can do it without any problem? Please give some details. With regardsSushma
