Hari OmThe Gita declares that the eternal, all-pervading Self is unmanifest(avyaktah),unthinkable(achintyah) and unchangeable(avikaryah) in verse 25 of chapter 2.

Since Lord Krishna knows Truth in its essential nature, He asserts that it is neither possible to kill it nor it really gets killed. A thing can be called manifest when we can perceive or cognise it through one or the other of our sense organs. That which is beyond the cognising capability of all the five sense-organs is called unmanifest. For example, In a mango seed we can not see, smell, hear, taste or touch a full-grown mango tree. Still, we know that the seed is the cause of the tree. The tree is said to be in an unmanifest' condition in the seed. In the same way, when we say that Truth or Self is unmanifest, it only means that It can not be perceived through the sense-organs. In fact the sense organs derive their capacity to perceive because of prescence of the Self. Thus in the field of Truth, the sense organs have been denied any

play by the Lord.

The human mind can not also think, nor can the human intellect rationalise over and comprehend the Infinite. The Self is the entity that energises the mind and intellect which are by themselves inert and insentient. Thus the mind and intellect can not make the Self an object of their comprehension and continue comprehending all for themsel just as a telescope-gazer can not see himself with his telescope:he can not be at the same time the seer as well the seen. Thus the Self is incomprehensible by the mind and the intellect of the seeker (sadhaka). Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to end his grief by instructing him about true Nature of the Self.
