Guest guest
You are probably thinking about " Ravana is a hero for Sinhala nationalists " at November 05, 2007 Hindustan Times, or something related. There is supposed to be a " ancient Sinhala work Ravanavaliya " . To the best of my knowledge, it is a fiction created by the anti-India/anti- Buddhist Hela movement, which is perhaps associated with the Portuguese influence. In all Ramayanas, including the Hindi TV series, Ravana is recognised as a great king, who had done something wring. I believe there were some dynasties (perhaps in Andhra or Orissa) that claimed descent from him. Here is an article that compares several versions of Ramayana: Sita's Birth and Parentage in the Rama Story, S. Singaravelu, Asian Folklore Studies, Vol. 41, No. 2 (1982), pp. 235-243 Yashwant INDOLOGY , Smarth Bali <smarth_bali wrote: > > Hi Group! > > Can anyone please refer me to the Sri Lankan (interpretive) texts (English/Hindi translations) where references to Raamaayan are given?
