The Mitanni people spoke Hurrian. The whole argument about Indo-Aryan

words in Hurrian and an Indo-Aryan elite among the Hurrians is

something totally constructed by Indo-Europeanists.

There is not a single Indo-Aryan inscription from Mitanni, which would

be rather strange if the kingdom was ruled by horsey Indo-Aryans as

suggested.

There is also no literary evidence for the existence of ruling elite

ethnicity.

Specialists in Mitanni like Annelies Kammenhuber have denied the

supposed IA etymologies for Mitanni gods and kings. These words all

have good Hurrian origin and don't conform to IA phonology. Despite

the existence of thousands of Mitanni inscriptions, the Mitanni

specialists have not found any mention or even a strong hint of a

foreign ruling caste among the Hurrians.

The idea of a 'maryannu' ruling class was made up by Indo-Europeanists

based on a single word in the Hurrian vocabulary.
