Dear Venkata, I don't agree these were 'myths'. The evidence is overwhelming that there was not one flood, but many. The problem is in identifying which flood they were refering to. There is the Baltic Sea theory, the sunken land bridge connecting Sri lanka with Indian mainland, there is the Saraswati River and the Indus...take your pick and there were witnesses and survivors who recorded the event. No myths necessary to substantiate what science had already proven.

The Central Institute of Indian Languages1 defines Tradition as “oral delivery of opinion or practices to posterity, includes folk and myth”. 1 - Lalita Handoo, Folk and Myth, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, pp. 1- 45.
