Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya, Once again, this child has been shown that Amma listens to us. A little over a week ago, My son, Ben, had a fall skiing and heard his arm pop. He is an adventurous soul and has had many injuries beginning with breaking both of his arms while demonstrating a rather acrobatic dismount from the swings in First Grade. He is one of those folks that does Big Wall climbing in the Sierras, flips off of cliffs while skiing, tries to make his mountain bike into some sort of flying machine, his skateboard into a land-speed record holders, etc., so this isn't a rare thing. This time, it created a really bad situation that was just getting worse. He is a seasonal employee in Yosemite National Park and is currently not working, being the off-season (therefore no insurance). The initial diagnosis after x-rays was a spiral fracture of the left humerus, with directions by the doctor at the clinic in Yosemite to see a specialist. They put him in a soft cast and a sling and sent him on his way. He was in a lot of pain in his shoulder also. One of the folks at the clinic, not a doctor, told him when he first got there that he thought it as a shoulder dislocation and was going to pop it back in for him, but decided to defer until doctors and x-rays were done. When the x-rays were taken, only the arm was x-rayed, not the shoulder for some reason. Since he didn't have insurance, he was having no luck in finding an orthopedist that would look at him and time was just going on. His doctor told him of a program in California to provide financial assistance in case of catastrophic medical costs and he began the paperwork to see if he could qualify for that. Then with that in process, he made another round of calls to orthopedists and found out that none of them would take that program, due to the amount of time it took to get paid. Meanwhile, 4 days after the injury, while he was laying down trying to find a comfortable position for his painful shoulder, moving his arm around, the suspected dislocated shoulder popped back in, and nearly all of his pain disappeared. I called a friend of mine that had been our family doctor for decades, in fact he had been the one that had set Ben's arms in the First Grade mishap, to see if he could do anything. He said that as long as the primary doctor had recommended seeing an orthopedic specialist, he couldn't do anything unless Ben got that doctor to change their recommendation. Ben was becoming pretty disillusioned and depressed. Ben called up to the doctor that had originally sent him in the Park to ask if those directions could be changed so that he could see our family doctor and found out that the official readings of the x-rays had come back from the radiologist and Ben's arm wasn't broken after all. The lines that the original doctor had interpreted as cracks were actually channels and grooves in the bones where blood vessels and such entered the inside of the bone! He went back up there and had the soft cast removed and is working on exercises to get loosened back up after being immobilized for over a week. Everything seems fine. I, of course, had been praying to Amma all along, and had intensified these prayers the day before the magic all happened. Thank You Amma, for watching over us and our loved ones. Forever in Mother's care, mike The first step in spiritual life is to have compassion. A person who is kind and loving never needs to go searching for God. Guest guest
you would be amazed at how often the doctors get it all wrong. Sometimes it is actually a good thing that you don't have enough money or insurance to do more complicated procedures...because misdiagnoses are so frequent Ammachi , " Mike Montoya " <dustygain wrote: > > Om Namah Sivaya, > > Once again, this child has been shown that Amma listens to us. > > A little over a week ago, My son, Ben, had a fall skiing and heard his > arm pop.
