Guest guest
Your quotes are appreciated. It's not " entirely true " that Amma makes no claims about herself. But devotees will parrot what she says, as any devotee of a guru will. And, there are certain situations where she will imply a claim through someone else's experience of her. I think what's most shocking to newcomers, spiritual or not, is the " practicing what you preach " lacking in the atmosphere at the darshan programs. Other spiritual groups and religions have devotees/monastics with less-than-perfect people as sevites, but there's a marked difference in their attitudes when interacting. I laughed when a person recently mentioned the part about " saving " seats. Back when there were no tokens, it evolved into people placing their cushion or jacket in line and walking away, expecting others to push it along, instead of waiting the hours like everyone else. Too often bad experiences are dismissed as " projections " or " mis-understandings " . While this is possible, it's also possible the person had a valid bad experience that needed improvement. Only discrimination of information will determine what actually happened (reality). Any needed improvement never comes because it's ALWAYS dismissed as the complainer's problem (normally found in cults, not mainstream religion). I've waited 10 years for Amma to invoke the guru-mood more and less mother-mood, and it just ain't happening. When I see devotees on the fence, they either leave the satsangs (but not Amma), or they simply turn off the awareness that they were blessed with (contempt for blessing) and simply go along with anything the satsang wishes. Some actually leave Amma altogether, as the disparity in teachings vs reality is too much. IMHO, Amma attracts many that wouldn't be selfless any other way (ie, without instant reward of her presence or association). tom -- In Ammachi , " violetdoves " <violetdoves wrote: > > I still don't understand what all of this nonsense is about Amma not > making claims. Guest guest
I don't think Amma has to depend on what anyone's experience is to know who She is. She does not need any of us. She knows all and knows who She is with or without us along for the ride. > And, there are certain situations where she > will imply a claim through someone else's > experience of her. >
Guest guest
Dear one, > Other spiritual groups and religions have > devotees/monastics with less-than-perfect > people as sevites, but there's a marked > difference in their attitudes when interacting. People are people everywhere. Amma devotees are no different than the general population except in having Amma as their guru. There are many from numerous backgrounds who follow her. I have not seen perfection anywhere in the world yet. I am sure none of us have. Just look at us all! LOL... > Too often bad experiences are dismissed as > " projections " or " mis-understandings " . > While this is possible, it's also possible > the person had a valid bad experience that > needed improvement. I think that sometimes complainers are probably missing the boat around Amma. They spend so much time focusing on what is wrong rather than enjoying her divinity and shakti. Such a waste! Sure no one is perfect. Complainers are welcome in mainstream religion?? Not from the Church I was in. No one likes to hear complainers anywhere, really. We could all sit around complaining. Change your attitude and change your altitude. Do a check up from the neck up and get rid of that stinkin thinkin as Zig says...Complainers get stuck in their own quagmire. And around Amma, what a waste of precious time when you can bask in Her incredible shakti! I've waited 10 years > for Amma to invoke the guru-mood more and less > mother-mood, and it just ain't happening. Where have you been dear brother? LOL...I cannot imagine what you want Her to be that She is not. I guess we all see our own things around Amma. >> IMHO, Amma attracts many that wouldn't be > selfless any other way (ie, without instant > reward of her presence or association). There are many who work tirelessly who rarely and some NEVER see Amma yet help villagers and people all over the world. There are some devotees who are devoted entirely to Amma who have NEVER ONCE seen Her. What is in it for them? Amma is our GURU. Well of COURSE we want to associate with AMMA! That is a given when she is our guru! LOL...I know of someone who was devoted to Amma for 3 yrs before ever meeting Her. Amma reaches out to people all over the world in Her own mysterious ways. Of course, we all long to be with Amma. I mean, come on! We are Amma devotees!! LOL...Amma where are you now!? Jai Ma! JAI JAI MA...JAI MA...JAI JAI MA...JAI MA JAI MA JAI MA JAI JAI MA....! in amma, adriane
