I've waited 10 years

> for Amma to invoke the guru-mood more and less

Of course, Tom. Being a real guru doesn't draw in hoardes of people

from the general public, nor does it make money for charities. Playing

universal compassionate mother who gives hugs DOES. It's much easier

to be a make-believe guru and throw them bones here and there to allow

them to make up all sorts of fantasies in their heads about who you

may or may not be.

I, for one, would love to hear opinions from devotees who have

exchanged more than a few sentences with Amma. Devotees who have

actually sat down and talked with their guru. Is there anyone here

like that? Is there anyone here who can speak from actual direct

experience with Amma? Not from what you read in a book, or heard at a

satsang, or created in your mind, or felt after your hug, or heard

from other devotees?

I understand that people can have these types of relationships with

God, who for all accounts appears as more intangible to some. But Amma

is supposedly an actual, living, human avatar that you can interact

with and talk to. So, where are all of the devotees that have sat and

had thoughtful exchanges with Amma? Or are all of your opinions and

experiences based on some feelings you received after a 5 second hug,

what you've read in books, or quotes you've committed to memory?

So, who here has exchanged more than 50 actual in-person words with

Amma? Perhaps those people will be able to best answer the questions

that have been presented in this group lately.

Everything I'm hearing here seems to be conjecture or conclusions

people have arrived through no actual direct experience with the guru.

The only problem with finding someone who's had more than 50 words

with Amma, who's not in the " in-crowd " right now, is that such a long

conversation would likely have been in a private interview.

Such private interviews, could validly contain information for that

person at that time, or for a purpose for that individual.

For example, another " Tom " that used to be local here, had a 45min?

interview with Amma many years ago and told him many things. Chris

(ckeniley2003) is friends with him, so perhaps you could get him to

have Tom write out some things. One I remember locally, was that

he/someone asked Ammachi if she was the combined reincarnation of Sri

Ramakrishna and wife Sri Sarada Devi. Her response was, " The energy

of Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi is in this body, do not ask me again. "

And so, devotees believe she is a reincarnation of them. Her

teachings are very similar, but to think that would limit her vs avatar.

Some people believe Amma and her swami's are part of a cosmic " super

team " that re-incarnates every so often, matching Jesus and his

disciples to Ramakrishna and his disciples, to Amma and her disciples.

All kinds of crazy useless theories out there.

There is a question line at the morning programs where you can speak

with Amma directly (or through a translator if you do not speak

Malayalam). She only takes 15-20 per morning program, so it is not

uncommon for her to spend quite a lot of time in discussion with an

individual. Questioners are prioritized by a narrowing-down process (is

it a matter of life and death, have you asked Amma a question this year

already, will you have any other opportunity this tour or is today your

last chance?).

I myself have been through the question line many times in the eight

years I have been with Amma. Sometimes her answers have been brief and

to the point, but always dead-on, and sometimes she has engaged me in a

lengthy discussion. Sometimes about personal life issues, and sometimes

about sadhana.

If you speak Malayalam it is quite easy to converse with Amma during

darshan. If not, you can always write a brief, concise note and hand it

to Geeta, who will read it to Amma during your darshan. Amma will

sometimes converse with you during that darshan (I've noticed that this

usually happens when people are suffering from very serious life

difficulties, health problems, etc.). Sometimes she will ask you to sit

close by her for a while. After some time she may suddenly address you

and your questions. The thing to remember is that she is obviously

attending to thousands of people and is logistically unable to

communicate extensive verbiage to each one who has a question!

Unfortunately, many of the long-time devotees who were with Amma back

in the late 80's and have the best stories to tell have long since

abandoned this list. A stroll through the archives of 2003-ish brings

back some good memories....

Violet, come to the MA Center and speak with some of those long-time

devotees, like Ron or Dayalu. It is quite clear from reading your posts

that you have not really taken the time to look beyond quick surface

judgements.... it is really worth taking that time if you are seeking

greater understanding about Amma. Conversly, if you are simply seeking

to defraud her or discourage us from our devotion to her, I think by

now you can already see that is a fruitless endeavor.

Prajna

I thought the line limit was 25 for questions. I gave up years ago

after talking with people and seeing what trivial questions were tying

up the line.

I've had darshan when someone will come up, directly in front of Amma

(behind me) and ask a question.

I've also known many who were in the midst of very serious life problems

and health problems, who never had Amma address them.

I think in our Amma experiences, there's a big difference between what's

possible, versus what " is " . The more " is " that is revealed to newer

devotees, the less betrayed and confused they'll feel later.

That's what I see in Violet (genuine search for truth, not fluff).

Stuart is much more self/mind focused like a Buddist. Truth may hurt,

but helps everyone in the end.

I have had several conversations with Amma. I am sure there are many

on here that have.

What do you want to know?

You know, I'm getting really tired of being asked to reiterate things

here. I don't think people really read other people posts before they

respond.

What I said was:

" Perhaps those people will be able to best answer the questions

that have been presented in this group lately. "

Meaning, the guy who posted here about his sour first visit with Amma

and anyone else (self included) who has raised questions here.

I'm not really up for scouring through all of the back-posts and

compiling questions. I think my point may have been missed.

This is all grown so circular and boring, so I am done for a bit.

Have a nice weekend!

Tom,

You are truly, amazingly, and consistently full of half baked truths

and misinformation.

I don't know wether to laugh or cry at your completely inaccurate

commentary.

Maybe the sour grapes is your way of getting attention?

Whatever, its a total disservice to all the people who are sincerely

dedicating themselves to help others around Amma.
