Guest guest Posted February 3, 2008 Report Share Posted February 3, 2008 I am quite sure that you must have, in the recent months, and perhaps even in these immediate years, been deluged with invitations from innumerable spiritual groups, new age communities and self-proclaimed Gurus to join their beliefs, practices and societies. Today, there are more Gurus than disciples. Anyone who can pen letters (and that too eloquently), just as I can, can easily become Gurus, Mahatmas and (believe me) even God. These Gurus would claim exclusivity. Their followers would often enough claim 'miracles' as proofs of their Gurus' divinity. They would paint near divine pictures of their Gurus/God-personified Mahatmas, and would claim the final saviour of the world has at last come. Even if you read a million of such testimonies and books, they would all sound alike, in fact even like carbon copies of one another. Well, how do we then discriminate between the so-called Real from the Unreal? Or is there, indeed, THE Real for us to distinguish it from the Fake? What are we to make of all these Gurudom? Are they all lies, imaginations of demented minds, spurious rambling of God-intoxicated idiots, or some fine goldmine for psychologists to delve in? You are invited to share with us your views of the Gurus you have met.
