A Family in Cincinnati

A young mother named Madhu had emailed me to volunteer as a letter

writer for Circle of Love Inside. This morning she sent me a most

heart-rending email about an urgent situation in her family and asked

that I get it somehow to Amma. I have forwarded it to Dayamritaswamy

since he knows just how to do that.

This is the situation. The family includes:

Mother – Madhu

Father –

Three year old twin girls -Aditi and Aarti

Boy - Ashwin

The family was suffering with the flu according to Madhu. After the

fever subsided, her daughter Aarti lost movement in her left arm and

leg. She was brought to Children's Hospital in Cincinatti where

Aarti is in intensive care. The child has the attention of the

specialists in that hospital along with experts from University of

Cincinnati. It seems Aarti suffered a stroke and may have suffered

smaller ones before this which showed no symptoms.

Please pray for Aarti's return to perfect health and for peace of

mind for both her parents.

Is there anyone in Cincinatti area who could offer some support to

this young family? The mom repeated several times in her email " We

are alone here. " In my city of Oakland, the whole community has

beautifully responded to a family whose child has been left partially

paralyzed by a stray bullet from a robbery. The boy was sitting at

the piano at a lesson when this happened to him. The outpouring of

love and support for the family here makes me know that Amma devotees

in Cincinnati could make a big difference in this family's life at

this scarey time. Contact me if you are from that area and I can

give you Madhu's email and snail mail address.

Om Namah Shivaya. We were very sad to hear the story of the family. We (myself

and the

Cleveland Amma satsang) would like to offer some support. Unfortunately we are

about 5 hours away from Cincinnati which will make visiting difficult but I did

forward your posting to all our satsang members we had some ideas and would like

to

send the family a care package. We have emailed Aikya several times since last

week and

have not had any response. Aikya or anyone please send me Madhu's email and

mailing

address so we can be in touch with them.

Thank you very much.

Sumana, I'm sorry that you had such a hard time getting in touch

with me. Over a year ago I started using a different email address.

I asked for help in changing what is here on the Ammachi group and

was told that I could change it myself. Today I again looked and I

cannot access the member list to find my membership record and

change it. I guess it's good that the list is private but in this

case it's a problem. Usually I put my email address on the end of

my message and sometimes people use that. I'll try to fiddle around

and see if I can figure out how to change it another way.

Anyway, I know that you now have Madhu's home address and email

address along with a report from her. Madhu's little girl is out of

intensive care and started Physical Therapy last week. Madhu sent

the following message to me Sunday the 24th.

Dear Aikya Param

I received the gifts that the Circle of Love group has sent for

Aarti and Aditi . They were both delighted with the Amma dolls , the

Amma bag and the Amma Cd.

Aditi and I brought Aarti's present box [the nice red one...it was

beautiful] to the hospital and made her open it. She was delighted

to see the Amma doll and slept with her all night yesterday .

For me , the best present was the picture of Amma's holy feet which

I have kept currently in the hospital room near Aarti.....i look at

it when i say my prayers.

Aarti may be discharged this Wednesday ....and some weeks later they

may do an angiogram and then decide if she will need a brain surgery

so that the cerebral stroke doesn't recur. Naturally I as a mother

am hoping it doesnt come to surgery ....but if it is the only way it

will save her , I surrender my worries to Amma's feet . Now that

Amma has turned her eyes to Aarti I don't feel so scared anymore.

I have recieved mail from the Circle of Love too....the present was

a big pleasant surprise and uplifted my spirits.

I thank you for all that you have done for me and all the others

whom i don't even know but yet prayed for my daughter ......it was

the best thing I encountered in this hour of crisis and kept my hope

up .

Once Aarti comes home , I shall immediately contact you about

writing letters to the prisoners....I really have no wish to waste

any more time in doing Anmma's seva.

Once again Thank you all .

Madhu Datar

Sumana I let Madhu know that I was sending her address information

to the Cleveland satsang. She wishes that she knew some children of

Amma in Cincinatti and so do I.

My heart just melts when I hear about the beautiful things Circle of

Love Letters writers do. That program is directed by Sivamayi (Mary

Ann Duckworth). To find out how to participate, please contact her

at <circleofloveletters. You are not required to buy

little girls Amma dols so don't be scared. You write loving

supportive letters to those in need.
