Guest guest
Namah sivaya, Greetings since I have not participated in this group, and just randomly posted a topic earlier I should have introduced myself. My birth name is Darrell, and my spiritual name as given by Amma is Advait. I found Amma's face on the cover of a book in a commercial bookstore (Books-a-million) and the book just happened to be in the Entertainment section which was a strange misplacement, and meant to be. As soon as I saw her face I felt a spiritual connection and for two years felt this connection before finally meeting her in the physical form and receiving her darshan in Detroit, Michigan in 2003 (I think, it was the one in Ann Arbor). I even had an Amma doll long before meeting her. So when I first met her I received my mantra on that retreat, realizing that I was recognizing her as my Guru and the full impact of such. My most special retreat with Amma was in New Mexico the first year it was held in Albuquerque instead of Santa Fe. I received my spiritual name there and had some beautiful experiences. I have attended four retreats with Amma only, and unfortuantely have missed the past three years because I live in Tennessee in the southern US and Mother's programs are always at least 400 or more miles away. I feel my connection to her strongly, and have always felt drawn to Amritapuri. My hope is to one day visit Amritapuri and stay for a few months, when I was younger since the age of 12 I always said I wished to be a monk and saw myself wearing orange or white which was surprising when I learned that Amma's devotees wear white. I will share my experience and personal story of Amma later if it is appropriate, but this is just a short summary of me .
