Guest guest
Dear Mike ~ reading the article and seeing the pictures, especially the one with Amma threshing the grain, were so inspiring. Only recently have I been able to overcome my " black " thumb. I say black because, not knowing anything about plants, whenever I get one for a gift or buy any, they all end up dead. Last year my sister gave me a beautiful pot with about 6 different plants. At first my practice with the plants didn't go so well, and several were drying out, and one died. But then I became determined. I would stick a finger into the potting soil. In some places it stayed moist longer than others. So in this way, being attentive to the plants, I was able to see them not only grow but flourish. I love to see them now, and I pet them (like as if they were a cat or dog) and talk to them. I don't know what any of these plants are, but I dearly love them. And now, with Amma's exhortation, I feel that this spring perhaps I may try some indoor herb gardening. We have big windows, though I don't think we can put anything on the sill. I'll have to think about it a bit more, but Amma has bitten me with the bug of wanting a relationship with my food, of caring for it, of thanking it for providing to me. Baby steps. And thank you. Jai Ma ~ Linda Mike wrote: The ashram recently purchased some land at Thodiyoor - about 30 km away from Amritapuri. Amma had advised to start agriculture there. A few days ago, after the harvest, the first bundles of cut stalk from the fields were brought to Amritapuri. The last couple of days have seen a continuous process of rice threshing by the Ashram residents. Though most of the residents have no prior experience in agriculture, everyone was infused by the enthusiasm and they learnt the trade really quickly. full story and pictures: http://www.amritapuri.org/2623/harvest-festival/ **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
