Guest guest
Dear Adriane and all ~ I lost my income, and my ability to work, when my illnesses became overwhelming in their symptoms. That was 15 years ago. I still grieve my inability to work because I loved what I did. I did not make a high income, but enough to get by. Now I am on SSDI. This year we didn't get the usual " raise. " It's never much, but always welcome. Nearly 200.00 a month comes out of my bank account to pay for " Medicare Supplement " insurance. It's a big hit to my income, but without it, especially when I had my knee replacement, I would be drowning in copays. Another 40.00 comes out to pay for the Prescription Drug, Part D prescription program. These are both debited from my account at the beginning of the month. In October, I went into the donut hole, and just one of my 8 medications became $210.00. I am not uncomfortable (except for that which comes from my illness). I have wondered at times if I would at some point have to choose between my meds and food. So far I have not. My husband is also on disability from the VA and gets Social Security. All together we manage to scrape by. I guess I am revealing this, not to get sympathy, but so that you know that one of your own group is among the people of whom we have been talking. I pray to Amma to be satisfied with what I am given, and that is especially true of all my Amma friends in this group and the Circle of Love writers who send me letters. The plight in the U.S. is currently not very good with over 10% unemployment. Very few people scam welfare. The majority are disabled, elderly, ill or poor. You will find that most people in these situations want to work. I have worked with the poor and people feel badly that they cannot make ends meet. They want jobs, they want to provide for their families. But if they cannot find a job, blaming them is pretty coldhearted and shameless. Here in our city there are tent cities on the riverfront of homeless with children. Many are also living in abandoned buildings...
Guest guest
I actually have several friends who are subjected to this. None of them have had to choose food or meds but have the donut hole and it's pretty horrible. Most people don't realize that this donut hole even exists for our seniors and disabled. It's so unfair. I say tax the millionaires rather than middle class for health care. Right now well I'm getting off Amma stuff here so sorry! Currently the poor are taxed on personal property at the same rate in Missouri as the wealthy. Go figure. adriane Ammachi , nierika wrote: > > Dear Adriane and all ~ I lost my income, and my ability to work, when my > illnesses became overwhelming in their symptoms. That was 15 years ago.
