“Beauty of Perfection†Swami Purnamritananda Puri General Secretary, Mata

Amritanandamayi Math.

Life is like a movie.

God has given us a role to act.

He is the movie director of our life.

He knows which role is suitable for us.

We have proved our skills through so many old movies in which we have acted

before. That was in our previous lives.

God was watching all those movies.

Another chance is given to improve our actions.

If God feels that we are not fit to take the role of a human being, he may give

us the role of an animal or bird.

Fortunately he has selected us to act the role of a human being. Because of that

he expects much from us more than from animals. We are supposed to express human

qualities like love compassion, patience, etc.

We should always have a smiling face. Only human beings can do that. Animals can

cry, show their anger and affection. But they cannot laugh, except in cartoon

movies.

They cannot enjoy jokes.

God has given the power of discrimination only to human beings. After getting

this human body we should know the importance of our role.

It is not very important, where we are born or

where we are brought up.

It is not necessary to worry about the role,

which is given to us.

Some people get the role of a rich man.

Some get the role of a poor person.

Some may play the role of a beggar.

No matter which role we have, God is watching our performance, how we overcome

the difficulties and utilise this opportunity to serve the world.

We can prove our skills more in difficult situations.

The rich man should make his role beautiful by helping the poor. Even a beggar

can become an emperor, if he tries to get the grace of God.

Even in an ordinary movie a person acting the role of a beggar can get an Oscar

for how well he portrayed his character.

It is not very important whether we are rich or poor.

How we use our skills to overcome the difficulties of life and how our life

becomes a contribution to the world--

God is watching only that.

But we are making the same mistakes again and again.

Then the director, himself/herself, has to act and show the actors how to give

perfection to a particular role.

That is what Amma is doing.

Amma demonstrates this principle through Her life.

Born in the midst of many difficulties, She rose above the obstacles.

She was born in a fishing village among poor people.

There was nobody to show her any love or compassion.

But Amma could invoke Her divine nature and create a heaven around Her.

A mobile heaven!

Wherever Amma goes, that place becomes like heaven.

I remember Amma's first Dubai visit.

Our flight was from the Cochin Airport where, thousands of devotees were waiting

outside.

It was very difficult for the police to control the crowd.

After entering inside the airport, we thought that Amma could be alone in the

VIP lounge and get some rest there.

But all the airport employees and officers came for Her darshan.

Then after the security check up, when we entered the restricted area, all the

police officers came for Darshan.

After entering the plane, I thought, Amma could at least rest for few hours

inside the plane.

She was sitting in the front row.

The airline upgraded the tickets of all the swamis, so all of us were sitting

near Amma's seat.

Amma boarded first, then as the other passengers entered the plane, they

realized that Amma was also there on the flight.

All of them got excited.

They expected to get an Airplane darshan without taking a token. If they go to

Amritapuri, they have to wait for a long time even to get a token.

Here everything became very easy.

Those who did not have any faith in God also wanted to get Her darshan.

They started getting up one by one and went near Amma.

Seeing the crowd around Amma, the crew members got scared.

They made an announcement several times asking the passengers to go back to

their seats so that the flight could depart.

But who wants to lose a golden opportunity to be with Amma? Finally the pilot

himself made an announcement. He promised the passengers that they could come

for Amma's darshan once the plane took off.

So all of them went back to their seats.

After the take off, the crew allowed the passengers to come one by one.

The crew members became the line monitors.

Bhavani could not distribute any tokens.

But the seat number became the token number.

Then some devotees who were sitting near Amma started singing bhajans. Thus, the

Airplane became like a temple.

All of us forgot that we were sitting inside an airplane.

Even the flight attendants came to get Amma's darshan.

They started serving juice, coffee, frequently so that they could see Amma again

and again.

Finally the pilot and the co-pilots also came.

Fortunately they did not get up from their seats simultaneously, forgetting

their duty.

They came one by one.

What is the reason behind this attraction towards Amma?

That is the beauty of perfection.

She creates heaven everywhere she moves.

She radiates the fragrance of love.

We are all searching for that perfection.

That beauty of perfection can be experienced only through spirituality.

For that, we should know how to act our role perfectly.

This body is a gift given by God.

Respect the body.

Do not misuse the body.

Don't take drugs and other intoxicants, which can damage this precious

instrument.

We have no right to insult the body.

Keep it pure and keep it healthy.

Amma says that it is a rented house.

You cannot do whatever you like with a rented house.

We have to hand it over to the owner without any damage.

Like that we have to hand over this body to God.

It is a temple of God.

A temple radiates peace all around.

We also should be able to radiate peace.

Respect this body and respect other bodies too.

Respect the animals and plants.

Respect each and every object of this world, then only does it become possible

for us to experience that divine beauty.
