Many a saint and philosopher has asked the human race to "count their blessings". Instead we are wailing always before god or Swami to give us this or that thing which we lack. How is it possible for mankind to posess all the wealth as well as happiness. If you want wealth, you have to forego happiness. If you want happiness, you have to forego the undue attachment to the wealth. It is not a sin to become wealthy. It is a sin to get attached to the wealth and feel proud of it. Hence Shirdi Baba has said in the Sai Satcharita, Poverty is superior to kingdom. God loves the poor. Swami has clarified regarding this point. If you want to purchase a chappal or shoe or any footwear, how do you select it. There is a wooden foot rest kept with the measurement and the corresponding sizes. We keep our foot on the footstool. The shopkeeper immediately reads the size from the measurement and select the appropriate footwear. If we select the next size, it becomes loose and comes away during walking. If it is one size less, it hurts our foot very badly. Swami has said, we have to possess only "just enough" to cater for our minimum basic needs. See your wardrobe or almirah or box. You will be having more than a dozen pairs of dresses. You hardly use 4 or 5 regularly. The rest in kept without use for a long time. Instead of keeping them in the boxes why don't we give it to the needy poor people. If you are getting 'more than enough' do not hoard it for future generation. As and when the opportunity present, help the slum dwellers, the platform dwellers, the destitutes with your money by buying good food, good dresses or blankets to cover during winter and help them with medicine too. Likewise in society, we have ample opportunities to help the distressed people. Swami will be much pleased if we abhor selfishness and extend the helping hand towards the needy. Sairam.
