Guest guest
Vali and Sugriva resemble each other. Hence, when Sugriva invited Vali for a combat, Rama fained ignorance on the identity and Sugriva was badly bruised, Rama consoled him and wound a garland of flowers on the neck of Sugriva for easy identity. In fact, there are deeper meanings in this episode. None could gauge the reason. Hence, there is ample chance for every orator to find fault with Rama. Sugriva subjected Rama to a test, before embarking on the combat with Vali. He wants to ensure that Rama could slain Vali with one arrow. Hence he requested Rama to pierce 7 big Accha trees which were huge and sturdy with one single arrow. Rama could accomplish that task very easily. Then only Sugriva gained enough confidence to invite Vali for combat. Probably this may be one reason for Rama's inaction during the first round of combat. Subsequently he slained Vali with one arrow hiding behind a tree. There is a reason. Vali has got one boon. Whoever fights with him in direct combat, will loose half his strength to Vali. Hence, there is a strategy behind Rama's way. A thorn has to be removed only by a thorn. He has offered his word of protection to Sugriva. Vali too had erred in taking Sugriva's wife as his own after driving Sugriva away from the kingdom. These were enough reasons for Rama to embark on killing Vali. Rama's vow is to follow Dharma. His mother Kausalya blessed Rama before departure to forest, "The Dharma you foster will inturn protect you from harm". Hence there was not even an iota of doubt regarding Rama's adherance to Righteousness. Sairam.
