Guest guest
Everyday we are perturbed by many unwanted thoughts. Yes, every thought is a distraction in the mental realm. Some may say good thoughts are ok but it is not so. Shri Ramana Maharishi has said, "All thoughts are really distractions and disturb the inner peace. For example, there is a serene surface of a tank where there is no wind even. If you just throw a small pebble, it creates ripples in the calm surface of the tank. Each pebble is akin to a thought. Hence no thought should arise. How to ensure a thoughtless stage? It looks like a himalayan task. But the begining is a simple process. Just sit quiet and witness the flow of thought in your inner conscious. Let it pass. Just watch but do not do anything about it or simply ignore all the thoughts that arise. If you start practicing this procedure, in due course of time, there will be slow down in the thoughts and if you persist further or remain indifferent to any thoughts, slowly the thoughts will disappear and there comes a time when there is 'Cessation of thoughts". Yes, it is possilbe but practice vigourously. Sairam.
