Guest guest
Magha Masam (month) starts on Tuesday, January 27th and Magha Snanam (bath) starts on the same day in the holy rivers in India like, Ganga, Godavari, Krishna etc. This holy month is favourite to Lord Siva leading to Maha Sivaratri on Monday, February 23rd. It is very sacred to read Siva Mahapuranam during Magha Masam until Maha Sivaratri. The main ritual of this month is simple to chant 'Aum Namah Sivaya' the Divine Panchakshari Mantram silently as many times as possible daily with devotion. One can also listen or chant the Siva Sahasranama Stotram or the Siva Ashtothara Sata Namavali THE ORIGIN OF LORD MALLIKARJUNA IN SRI SAILAM Once Lord Kartikeya had gone to the Kraunch Mountain to do penance. Shiva and Parvati could not bear the pain of his separation for long so both of them went to the Kraunch mountain to see him. When Kartikeya saw them coming he moved to another place. When lord Shiva saw this He established himself in the form of Jyotirlinga, which later on became famous as Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga. in Sri Sailam
