The Annual Sports and Cultural Meet of the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions got underway at the Vidyagiri Stadium this morning. Bhagavan arrived at the Stadium by 9.30 am, and was escorted to the stage by the marching bands of Anantapur and Prasanthi Nilayam campuses of the University. The spectators could watch the proceedings on two giant LED screens as the students marched past their Divine Chancellor. As the ceremonial part of the inauguration concluded by 10.15 am, the Brindavan campus of the University presented their demonstration events - several dances, show-jumping on horses and motorbike stunts. The Prasanthi Nilayam campus and the boys' section of the Higher Secondary School began their presentation at 11 o'clock. They had a giant backdrop of a golden icon of Kartikeya. Gymnastic events like basketball with trampolines and roman rings were interspersed with mass events like Chairobatics. Giant

Chinese flags and kites led to the final event of Jeep stunts. It was past noon when Bhagavan accepted Arati and left for His residence, blessing the students on the way.The afternoon proceedings began at the Stadium when Bhagavan arrived just after half-past four. The children from the Primary school welcomed Him, and presented their hour-long colourful presentation with panache. Gymnastics by the boys and dances by the girls were complemented by sprightly mass drills by tiny tots. The Anantapur campus of the Sai University then presented the concluding programme. Their action-packed half-hour included flag drills, mono- and bi-cycle stunts, balancing acts with weight-lifting bars, huge hula hoops and colourful mass formations. The conclusion was very attractive, with students waving mult-coloured LED lamps in the gathering dusk, singing their final song. Bhagavan accepted Arati at a quarter-past six and blessed the entire congregation in the

stadium with both hands before returning to Mandir.

This evening as well as last evening, Bhagavan went to the Vidyagiri stadium to view the practice sessions of the students. Yesterday, it was the turn of the Primary School children to show their rehearsal to Swami. When He arrived in the stadium, the children were ready in their costumes in the Primary School grounds. So, taking a round of the stadium, Swami went to their school and watched their rehearsal. This evening, the march-past session was rehearsed during Bhagavan's visit to the Stadium. The Chinese kites presented by Prasanthi Nilayam campus were also demonstrated after the marching was completed. Bhagavan arrived back at Mandir and sat for a few bhajans before accepting Arati at a quarter-past six. Prof. Anil Kumar then announced the programme in the stadium tomorrow, asking the audience to be seated there by 8 am.

Prasanthi Update - A Wonderful start to the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet 2010Today was a wonderfully Spectacular day at the Hill View Stadium as the Opening Ceremony of the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet 2010 was of to a Wonderful Start. After Swami was ceremoniously received at the stadium at around 9.30am, The Traditional March past of all the students from all the Campuses took place to the melodious tunes of the Institute Brass band. The Flag hoisting and Torch lighting ceremony followed and there was also the Traditional Oath taking by all the students. The Mascot for this year's Games was a beautiful Swan which went up the hill to light the Games Flame on the top of the hill. Then started a Wonderful display of cultural and stunt items by the Students of all the Campuses. Swami keenly watched each and every item and blessed them all. This year there were two huge

In the Evening Programme, the tiny Students from the Sri Sathya Sai Primary school performed some wonderful dances and gymnastics. The last item with multi coloured umbrellas was wonderful and really enthralled the audience and Swami was thrilled with the performance. The last performance was by the Anantapur Campus girls of the University. Needless to say their Programmes were also wonderful. Prasanthi Update - Sunday 10th JanuaryThe Annual Sports and Cultural meet is often considered as the Prashanti Nilayam Olympics! The five rings are constituted here by the three campuses of the University and the Primary school and Higher Secondary School. And every year, Swami takes a lot of pride in the march past parade which takes the place of honour, being the first item and the longest one too, on the agenda. And again, every year, Swami scruitinises the march past atleast once before D Day and blesses all the students with His comments and compliments. This year, Swami had visited the grounds on two occasions and had seen some of the items from all the various campuses. However, Swami had not yet seen the marchpast and so it was no surprise when He sat in the Porte and headed straight to the grounds yesterday. By 4:40pm, Swami had entered the grounds and He was

accorded a welcome by the brass bands from the boys' and girls' side. Majestic horses walked in front of His car. Reaching the Vedika, Swami went up the stage from the lift. Once seated there, the command to begin the marchpast was given and the band struck up a lively beat. The tiny tots from the Primary school in their blue uniforms were followed by the girls from the school and Anantapur campus. The commentary was also rehearsed. The school boys and finally the University boys from both the campuses too marched in front of their Swami. Soon, the ground was a splash of colour as all the students stood in neat ordered rows and columns. Then, the opening ceremony was rehearsed. The flag hoisting, lighting of the torch and the flame being carried by the torch vehicle to the wonderful tunes of the 'Torch song' as it is known in the local lingo were the next set of events which were followed by the oath taking ceremony. The whole marchpast and

ceremonies took about 50 minutes. At the end, the students were told to disperse. Instead of dispersing, they accumulated at the stage like bees to a rose! Swami sat on the stage enquiring into the details of tomorrow's programme. In the meanwhile, the coaches of various events moved up the stage and sought HIs blessings. Swami smilingly blessed everyone with padanamaskar and then spoke to some of them too. The coaches from Singapore sought His permission to fly the special kites that they had brought along. Swami blessed them.Soon, the whole ground metamorphosed into a scene of serene beauty. A gentle breeze began to blow. The sunlight was golden and the slanting rays gave ethereal beauty to the stadium. Kites flew in the sky and the beautiful tunes of the great Yanni began to drift from the speakers. Swami sat relaxed on the stadium stage and all the students sat below gazing at His beautiful form. Swami spoke a little and it seemed as if He

was ready to watch the Sports meet today itself! The beautiful ten minutes soon elapsed and Swami decided to return to the mandir. It was 5:50pm as He moved back to the mandir, mobbed on all sides by His students.Swami reached mandir and the bhajans were on. He sat for about six bhajans and seemed to be satisfying the thirst of the devotees who had been singing for the past hour almost. Then He received Aarti and an announcement was made by Prof. Anil Kumar that the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet would be held tomorrow that is today.
