Guest guest
Shath Koti Pranams at the Lotus Feet of Bhagwan Shri Sathya Sai Baba. Sai ram brothers and sisters. Yesterday's Heart to Heart carried a very soul stirring message from Swamy which reads as follows :, "Help others so that you may repay the service that you received. Do not look on, when you find some one in pain or grief. As far as possible, relieve the pain, console the grief-stricken. A man who works for wages, calculates the reward at so much per hour, receives his wages and quits. But, when one works as part of his worship, glad that he is given the chance to serve as long and as gladly as he can, he derives maximum Aananda (joy).". I would like to draw your kind attention to a very startling and eye-opening article published in todays's Hindu daily under the title `WHERE ARE THE VOLUNTEERS?' written by Dr. Saravana Nandakumar and discusses that despite awareness, the gap between demand for and supply of blood donors sill looms large. We all know where the short-comings are. Despite numerous drives organised by Govt.. and various NGOs, blood donation is yet to become a habit in India. I would rathar not go into the statistics. What the Sai Youth is expected to do in this situation is to take a vow in this very moment that he/she irrespective of caste, creed, religion and relation would volunteer to donate blood to some needy in case of emergency. Serving somebody in distress by donating an unit of blood is serving the Lord who is omnipresent in each being. With this faith, the youth should endeavour to serve the society. Bhagawan Shri Sathya Sai Baba has time and again stressed to need for creating awareness among the people whether they be urban or rural regardig their Blood groups and creation of data banks of blood groups so that in case of need or emergency, the prospective blood donors may be requested to donate blood to the needy. Carrying a leaf from Swamy's message. Shri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations have Surveyed the colonies and registered their blood groups by organising Blood grouping camps in many parts of India. In Delhi, enormous amount of activity has been done in this regard. The success in this path is above satisfactory. The main idea behind this blood grouping camps is to create awareness among the urban poor and villagers regarding their blood groups and giving them relief in the way of support of data banks in case of any need for blood at any time. My personal expereience over the past 4 years is that a person in need of blood is so happy when help comes from an unknown source. I feel that this is a divine prasadam from Bhagwan Shri Sathya Sai Baba to the depressed mankind, who is under the impression that he is aloneand there is nobody to help him in this busy world. I remember a quote of Baba, LIFE IS NOT TO FEEL DEPRESSED, BY HIS MERCIES FEEL IMPRESSED, LIFE IS GLORIOUS FULL OF ZEST, LIFE IN ONE IS PERFECT REST.' I hereby pray to all Sai brothers and sisters to take this matter seriously and join the movement of creating awareness of Blood Groups and become the perfect youth by donating blood once in 6 months to any needy person.
