Namaste P. Sengupta,

Please scroll below for answers:

1) After removal and before wearing, there is a Blessings process for rudraksha. This will be posted in the next message as its very long to mention here.

2) When you said "transferred to other", does it mean giving the beads to another person? If yes, then the same Blessings process as mentioned above should be used. In this process, the new receiver's name is added in the prayer. After the prayers, the receiver will benefit from the rudrakshas that have been given to him or her.

3) Whether you wish to 'purify' rudraksha during eclipses, is up to you. Its advisable to purify on during auspicious eclipses. You can take your rudrakshas to a temple priest or pandit for purification. Or again, you can use the Rudraksha Blessings Process already mentioned.

4) Whether one wishes to wear rudraksha to the house of a dead person, home of childbirth and the hospital is also up to personal choice. Some people would not wear the beads due to religious beliefs or strict background. However, gurus, swamis and other holy persons continue to wear rudraksha everywhere they go. Before visiting such places, its best to meditate and let the Upaguru guide you whether to wear or not. If you must wear, then again, purify your beads afterwards with the same Blessings process.

5) Rudrakshas can be touched at the feet of all religious ceremonies such as homam, yagya, aarti, pyre, etc. By doing this, it further sanctify the beads and give blessings.

6) Rudrakshas must always be removed during 'spousal relations'.

7) It depends on the person and the background he/she has been brought up in. People from very strict backgrounds or Brahmin backgrounds will follow strict rules and they remove rudrakshas before visiting the toilet. Other people may not follow this.

8) Yes rudrkashas can be worn during social occasions.

9) Yes, rudraksha can be worn or carried when visiting unknown places. The beads bestow protection.

10) When cleaning the home, its best to remove rudraksha and place them on the altar.

11) Whether rudrakshas should be removed during women's m/c periods depends on the person herself. If she feels strongly comfortable to wear the beads, then its fine. If she feels she wants to remove them, its ok too. Many Brahmin women have mentioned that they continue to wear their beads which gives them strength.

Om Namah Shivaya
