Guest guest
Dear Devotees, Jaya Guru Datta. Note: This message was scheduled to be released yesterday, the Ratha Sapthami Festival day. Due to unexpected technical problems the release is delayed by one day. Ratha Sapthami Greetings to all devotees of H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji. Ratha Sapthami is very dear to Pujya Sri Swamiji and He performs Surappa Poundarikayaaji’s Jayanti also today. Since this is a festival related to Surya Bhagavan and since this particular Ratha Saptami is coming after a Surya Grahan, I would like to share a little bit of scientific information related to solar with my co-devotees. Our ancient seers were real “see-ers”(those who see). They see the normally invisible rays also very clearly. They found that the extra radiations during the ecliptic periods are helpful to human in some ways and harmful in some ways. If the humans receive the radiations directly by their eyes, the eyes are effected . So they prohibited it. But exposing the body to them in a general way is useful to the humans. Hence they prescribed river baths and meditations on the shores of rivers or sea – in the open air. This was the practice in olden days. When it comes to the temples, the main scientific principle on which a temple functions is – the universal energy is drawn into the temple through the sharp edge of the Sikhara . Since, the sucking of energy is rampant during the times of eclipses, it is not safe for any individual to stay in the sanctum sanatorium (Garbha Griha). More over, it is better to keep the temple closed during that period, so that the energy sucked is totally absorbed and stored in the Yantra (a metal plate) placed under main Vigraha. This ensures slow, steady and peaceful release of the stored energy for the benefit of the devotees. That is why temples are closed and people are ordained to go out to the river banks during the periods of eclipses. Thus, solar rays, which are the real suppliers of energy to all the beings on the surface o earth, are properly and perfectly utilized by ancient Indians in the form of several festivals and customs. Ratha Sapthami Festival is one among them. I wish you all a fruitful Ratha Sapthami.
