SAI RAM Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Swamy defines Moksha as Moha Kshayam ie., destruction or eradication of delusion. Before we go into other quotations from Bagawan Baba, let us understand as to what is meant by delusion. Simply put, delusion refers to a false belief or opinion, misconception or misbelief. It actually means an erroneous perception of Reality.

Delusion is more or less synonymous with illusion. A delusion can be said to be an unshakeable belief in something untrue. It has two aspects viz., non-apprehension and misapprehension. For example, a man mistakes a rope or a garland for a snake in twilight. Here the misapprehension relates to the snake and the non-apprehension to the rope. So long as the rope is not apprehended the misapprehension of the snake will remain. Once the rope is apprehended as a rope the misapprehension of the rope as snake vanishes. So long as the delusion lasts the man worries about the imaginary snake- bite ,poison of the snake, pain of death etc. etc. The snake-vision emerged out of delusion or non-apprehension of rope. Similarly, even though Truth or Reality only is present everywhere and in everything, It is not perceived or apprehended by us. We mistake the Truth for the pluralistic phenomenal world. We do not apprehend the one and only Truth or God in all that we see. Instead we see plurality in the world of things and beings. We are carried away by external appearances like colour, caste, creed, wealth, education, position in society etc, etc. We do not live according the scriptural declarations which proclaim that the same Divinity is equally present in one and all. How many of us can conduct ourselves without a trace of duality under any circumstances? How many of us realize that the Atma in us is the same one in everybody? It is the same Universal Consciouness that illumines the thoughts ,emotions and perceptions of each and every one of us. Once the vision of pluarality or multiplicity is rooted out and we see oneness or Universality , the delusion in us is destroyed. Swamy highlights the destruction of delusion

(Moha) as the true indicator for Moksha.
