Jai Guru Datta,

The following important points are for those planning to attend the mid-morning

Friday Aug 7 meditation in Mt. Shasta town:

Please register at mtshasta2009 as soon as you can! This will be a

great help for our volunteers, will help them be better prepared and will help

us in arranging for seating accommodations in a comfortable hall, and prepare

for prasadam after the meditation.

As far as accommodations are concerned, generally the lower cost accommodations

are going to be in Redding (1hr drive south of Mt. Shasta on I-5). Mt. Shasta

does have accommodations but are expensive and limited. Also due to other church

groups having events that weekend in Mt. Shasta your best and less expensive bet

would be to find accommodations in Redding. Most places have internet rates or

AAA/AARP rates that are even better than group rates we can negotiate.Mt. Shasta

town, a beautiful and charming natural small town with under 10,000 population,

is a winter ski destination and is located at an elevation of 3,600ft and the

Mt. Shasta peak is over 14,000 ft. Therefore, please be advised that weather

conditions can be unpredictable sometimes, even in the summer. Please be

prepared for hot (>90deg F) or cold (<50F) or sudden thunderstorms, winds,

rains, or even wildfires. Please bring a light jacket along for sure and be

prepared for sudden changes in weather- even though generally in summer it may

be a low probability do not take chances.
