Guest guest
Dear Sai Devotees, In this week's eChat, we will read about the glorious past of India and religious harmony... ------------------------ Emperor Akbar was known for his spirituality and religious tolerance. He used to visit Shaikh Salim Chishti in a village called Sikri near Agra. He was worried that though he had many wives, he was not blessed with a son. Shaik Salim predicted that Akbar will have three sons - a prediction that indeed came true. In honor of Shaik Salim, Akbar built a huge palace and shifted his capital to Sikri. Akbar used to invite learned scholars to his palace in Sikri from various religions including Zoroastrians, Hindus, Jains, Christians and Muslims. Akbar liked several Hindu rituals and used to follow them on regular basis. Akbar showed great reverence towards the pictures of Virgin Mary brought to him by European traders visiting his court. He liberally donated land to build churches. Another important point, he donated huge land to Sikhs where they founded Amristsar, their holy city. ------------------------ May we be inspired by Akbar's religious tolerance! Om Sai Ram!
