Guest guest
Namaste Blue, The climate and season of a location will determine how long it takes rudraksha beads to dry after washing. Say if its summer, hot and humid, they will take a day to dry. If its winter and wet, they may take up to a week or a bit more (just to be cautious). Another thing to be conscious of is that if beads are not completely dry when they are oiled and then put away, sometimes they may develop mould. Of course when they are worn right away after oiling, the likeliness of mould is next to nil as body heat also helps to dry the beads. Yes, in the case of beads with silver caps, water underneath them will take a long time to evaporate. Since your mala is brand new, it would be advisable only brush them with oil during cleaning sessions after you notice grit on the beads. Use a toothbrush and kitchen paper towels to absorb excess oil. Using a hairdryer will take a long time to get them dry (plus you've got to hold it). A heating pad on low may help better.
