Guest guest
Dear Rubiblr, Although a person who already has a Spiritual Guru and practising dhyan yoga and meditation (perhaps including mantra) under the guru, can still go for reiki attunement, its preferably not to do so. The spiritual path under the guru is a journey all by itself and full focus should be done for this. Joining another class such as reiki may perhaps interfere with the concentration that is required while the student tries performing spiritual work such as learning how to achieve kundalini under the guru's guidance. Anyway, below is some information for you to read: Reiki ----- Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by " laying on hands " and is based on the idea that an unseen " life force energy " flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's " life force energy " is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means " God's Wisdom or the Higher Power " and Ki which is " life force energy " . So Reiki is actually " spiritually guided life force energy. " A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an " attunement " given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of " life force energy " to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life. ----------- Kundalini --------- Energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine until it is activated, as by the practice of yoga, and channeled upward through the chakras in the process of spiritual perfection. Kundalini is untapped energy (prana) at the base of the spine that can be drawn up through the body awakening each of the seven chakras. Full enlightenment occurs when this energy reaches the Crown Chakra. Kundalini energy is often represented as a snake coiled at the base of the spine. Focus on Breath and Movement ---------------------------- Each Kundalini Yoga asana series is done in conjunction with a specific breath that intensifies the effects of the poses with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards. Kundalini sequences (called kriyas) may consist of rapid, repetitive movements done with breath or holding a pose while breathing in a particular way. A Kundalini class will usually consist of a warm-up to stretch the spine and improve flexibility, a sequence of poses (a kriya) that focus on a specific area of the body, and meditation, including the use of chanted mantras, pranayama, and mudras. Kundalini devotees often wear flowing white robes and head wraps. Is Kundalini for You? --------------------- Kundalini is one of the more spiritual types of yoga. It goes beyond the physical performance of poses with its emphasis on breathing, meditation, and chanting. However, the Kundalini sequences are very physically intense. This type of yoga appeals to those who are up for both mental and physical challenges. http://yoga.about.com/od/kundaliniyoga/a/kundalini.htm Om Bholenath , " rubiblr " <rubiblr wrote: > > This is a religious group so I am asking this question to clarify my > understanding: > What is difference between Reiki and Kundalini? > Can a person who has Spiritual Guru and practicing dhiyan yoga > (performing meditation after getting pious word from guru) go for > reiki attunement?
