Dear Sarah

How to react to a bully?

This is a very interesting question.

Taking into account the Hindu teachings of 'Ahimsa' (Non violence)

one may be tempted to think that Hindu attitude may be perhaps to

'tolerate' -- but I do not think that is correct. I will ask our list

members to

respond and offer you a variety of views on the matter.

Dear Uday,

Here is a very literal translation, made by Swami Ashokananda:

Who art Thou, O beautiful doer of good, Thou who hast in thy hands

happiness and sorrow?

The water of existence is whirled by the breaking of powerful waves, O

Mother. Is it to remove,

here in the universe, the peace which is verily always broken in many ways,

that Thou art ceaselessly

engaged?

She in whose activity there is no respite distributes the fruit of karma

done; guide of future action; she who exists here-may She be to me everyday

the giver of boons. I know for sure this: that She is the holder of the

bonds of karma.

What dharma, what future, what writing-on-the-forehead, what unknown fruit

exists here without Her?

May She, whose self-dependent chain of will determines laws, the primal

guide, my shelter be!

Whose glories and immeasurable powers here swell the ocean made of births

and deaths; by whom the undifferentiated is made manifest, and to

unmanifest again returns; tell me, where can one take refuge except in Her?

To friend and foe thy lotus-eyes are even; in health and distress

unfaltering is the laying of thy hands, O

Mother; both immortality and the shadow of death are thy grace. Let not thy

most blessed, auspicious glances forsake me.

'

O Mother, O Thou the All! How can I, of small intelligence, praise Thee?

'Tis like the desire to grasp with my two hands the one nourisher of the

world. I take refuge in the blessed feet--worthy of worship by the goddess

of fortune herself--the foundation of fearlessness, worshiped by the

highest of service.

She who from my birth has led me along the paths of extreme sorrow until

complete perfection is reached, in her sweet, playful, self-devised ways;

by whom my understanding is always well-inspired,

may that Mother, the All, be my refuge--with fruition or without.

The Sanskrit is difficult to send by e-mail. Why don't you buy from one of

our bookstores ALTAR FLOWERS, where it is given along with a different

translation.

Dear Jay,

Can you please let me know the cost of Complete Works

of Sri SV? Once we know the cost, I am willing to

share the cost with some other members of the group

here since I may not be able to bear the entire cost

of the book plus shipping by myself, but I dont want

to discourage the gentleman who honestly wants to read

the Complete Works. What do you think?

Dear Krishna

Thanks for offering to help. Our list is very generous. Quite a few members

have already contacted Larry offering him the complete set. We understand

that he is being sent one set courtesy of one of our members.

Thank you.

Jay/Dilip,

Did you get a chance to send the cds/cassettes we

interacted about? I have mentioned it to Swami

Prabuddhananda that you might be sending those and he

is fine with that. By the way, he remembers you very

well.

Thanks,

Shailesh

MY PLAN OF CAMPAIGN

(Delivered at the Victoria Hall, Madras)

Therefore, my friends, my plan is to start institutions in India, to train

our young men as preachers of the truths of our scriptures in India and

outside India. Men, men, these are wanted: everything else will be ready,

but strong, vigorous, believing young men, sincere to the backbone, are

wanted. A hundred such and the world becomes revolutionized.

Hi Smitha

I do not think there is any special arrangement for Darshan of Saibaba at shirdi unless you are some VIP who come directly thru the exit ramp near Gate No. 3.

Otherwise u need to go thru the normal queue itself. If u come during off season i.e in months when schools in India are open and people do not plan their vacations, then rush will be less and you will get a good darshan of baba. Also you will not face any issues for your baby.

We go to shirdi every year with our son. We were going since he is 6 months old and now he is 3 yrs old. No issues so far - inspite of huge queue - u will maximum take 2 to 3 hours to come out.

Namaste Naveen,

Sorry to hear of your friend's predicament. If she hasn't worn rudraksha before,

would like to suggest 2 beads of Java Two Mukhi and Nepal Gauri Shankar. These

beads help with attracting a soul-mate.

Alternatively, pls ask your friend to contact Rudra Centre for a free rudraksha,

yantra and ratna recommendation:

Best wishes.
