They appear to be making efforts like a materialistic person, but in reality they are in a state of supreme meditation. They take the world to be an illusion and know the Lord to be omni-present. The Self-Knowing persons know of the inaction inherent in an action. The company of such persons generates a pleasent soothing effect.
