It is only a person who could win the love of his mother that can earn the love of God!”- Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. In memory of the compassionate and loving mother of Our Sweet Lord Sai Chandra, the 6th May has been decreed as Eeswarammah Day by the Sri Sathya Sai Organization. On this auspicious day, Mother Eeswarammah, the blessed woman who carried in her womb and who brought to the world the Kaliyuga Avatar, is celebrated in all the Sai Centers of the world. Mother Eeswarammah was a woman of many virtues. Shy, introverted, soft-spoken and kind, the mother of our Lord was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother. She was also known as a very pious and selfless woman. She led a simple life, raising her family and helping the village people of Puttaparthi. She is recognized for being the humanitarian behind the water projects, the hospitals and the schools set up by Bhagawan Baba in the village. In the olden days, she was moved by the plight of the villagers who had to trek for miles for potable water. She imploringly prayed to her darling son, Bhagawan Baba for a well. He heartily complied. The villagers were, consequently, given the facility of a well. Soon after, they benefited from the huge water project when drinking water was brought to their tap, in their home. Similarly, the pathetic sight of small children walking barefoot and covering miles to attend school in a neighboring village caused unbearable dismay to Mother Eeswarammah. She implored her son for a school. He obediently and dutifully built the first school for the village children in answer to his mother’s prayer. Furthermore, the sick and the diseased had to travel a long distance by cart or even on foot to the village of Bukkapatnam to seek medical assistance. There was no dispensary, no doctor and no hospital in their village. The benign Mother again intervened on their behalf. She asked the Lord for a third boon. Moved by the heartfelt and noble prayer of the Mother, the Lord constructed the first hospital to dispense free medical care to all the villagers. Bhagawan Baba gives credit for his community achievements to this great and blessed soul and says:- “The more one strives to give joy to the mother, the more the motherland will rejoice. Mother and motherland go together.” More recently, in his Divine Discourse on the occasion of Maha Shivratree( 06.03.2008), Bhagawan describes his mother as ‘divine’ in these memorable sweet words:- “I saw Eeeswarammah while coming into the darshan hall. She wore a yellow saree. The reason for this color is that she now resides in Vaikunta (Heaven), in the abode of Lord Vishnu!” Eeswarammah Day is also observed as Bal Vikas Day by the children and teachers of the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas schools in memory of her boundless love for children, the poor and the vulnerable. Spiritually oriented programs, skits and cultural activities are organized by the bal vikas gurus and children on this day. There is Ashtothara and Gayatri Japa by Balvikas students. This will be followed by bhajans and Arathi. SAIPREM was innaugurated by Swami on 13th MAy 1995. The inuaguration function was heavenly with our Lord giving a discourse where He stressed the importance of being united and removing the trait of jealousy. Swami spoke about incidences from the Ramayana in his discourse. Our centre's anniversary is on the 13th of MAY ,a day after Dharmakshetra 's anniversary(12th MAY). We have NArayan Seva on every 3rd Sunday (about 600-650 people are given prasadam in the form of food,cooked inour centres kitchen) We have 2 halls one the main bhajan hall (1st floor) with the altar having a beautiful Vigraham of Lord Shirdi Sai 1st hall on ground floor where NArayan seva is conducted. A medical centre functions from the ground floor with 12 specialists. We chant the Vedas on Sunday before the Bhajan. Swami has blessed our Vedam group with a Mercury Lingam (which materialised from a devotees residence) We took the Mercury Lingam to each of the 81 residences completed 81 Gruha Shanthi PArayanams at 82 residences in New Bombay ) Presently we are taking the PArad (Mercury Lingam) and have to complete 85 bhajans in NAviMumbai. We have by Swamis grace completed bhajans in 48 residences. All are invited for our Centres Anniverasy celebrations on 13th MAy.
