These 84 lakh species are subjected to three types of afflictions, viz., Adhibhouthika, Adhidaivika and Adhyatmika. Adhibbhouthika refers to the diseases that are caused by insects like mosquitoes, flies, etc., Adhidaivika relates to the sufferings caused by natural calamities like earthquakes, floods and epidemics, e.g., cholera, plague, etc. Adhyatmika refers to the sufferings that result from wrong food and bad habits. It also includes the sufferings caused by cruel animals and wicked people. What is the remedy for these types of afflictions man has to undergo.
