ANANTAPUR: The 83rd birthday celebrations of Sri Satya Saibaba began at Prashanti Nilayam in Puttaparthi on a colourful note. The convocation of Sri Sathya Sai University will be held at Sai Kulwant Hall tomorrow.

Former vice-chancellor G Venkataraman will attend the convocation.

 

Saibaba will present medals and certificates to the toppers at the convocation.

 

On November 23, Saibaba will give a darshan to his devotees at 7 am on the occasion of his birthday. A large number of devotees from various parts of the country and abroad had already arrived at Puttaparthi to participate in the birthday celebrations of Saibaba.

 

The police made elaborate security arrangements for the fete. Superintendent of Police MK Singh is personally overseeing the security arrangements at Puttaparthi for the fete.

 

A huge contingent of police force was deployed in Puttaparthi to thwart any untoward incident. District Collector V Anil Kumar also visited Puttaparthi and reviewed arrangements made for the fete. The RTC is running special buses to Puttaparthi for the convenience of devotees.

 

A temporary bus stand was set up in the town for the special buses. The Medical and Health Department has set up mobile teams to provide medicare to the visiting devotees in emergency.

 

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Chairman DK Audikesavulu Naidu is also in Puttaparthi to oversee arrangements for the fete.

 

Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy, Civil Supplies Minister Kasu Venkata Kr i shna Reddy and Maharashtra Minister Ashok Chavan will attend the celebrations.
